Support for the US not what it should be

Post by CM »

I watch CNN everyday and check the various newspapers and CNN does not cover many of the important news, atleast which i deem important.
Also someone wanted me to post articles here about anything related to the issue.

I have come across various article where countries are not providing military support to the US in the way it wants, and the US media isn't covering the news.
So if it is ok with everybody i will just post a couple of articles here in relation to that.

Saudi Arabia is resisting the United States' request to use a new command
center on a Saudi military base in any air war against terrorists

Ok i don't know if they archive files so if you guys can't see the article tomorrow just tell me and i will paste the whole article.

The Italian Defence Minister has not denied all support in that report.

He states that the Italian armed forces will not be called upon, but following an inevitable US attack on the perpetrators the Italians will see what they are called upon to do...if they are adamant about not offering military support, they do not deny offering other support...ie medical?

The same applies with the Germans - they are offering administration support.

It does not mean that the Italians, Germans and Norwegians are not backing the US, only declining military support...

Various Arab nations have offered/supplied the US with intelligence information....

Ysh i have no said that they aren't support the US.
Read the title, Support for the US not what it should be .

The US would have a much easier time with a vast military coliation to justify its attack on Afghanistan.
If most of the european nations were to provide the US with military aid, to many of the fundementalists it won't be a US vs them war.

So far the British and Americans are the only ones sending in military troops which does not help the US image within the muslim nations.

@Fas - Ok - re the title of the post - if your personal opinion is the only real support is military support then OK, it looks like the US and UK at the moment.

However, other types of support are necessary. Medical, administrative, financial, intelligence. Any nation offering that kind of backing will be viewed by the perpetrators to be in support of US action :)

Being from the region, military and FP support is what is seen as dangerous.
The psycho elements of these societies really don't care about the administration or who helps.
But if any country helps the killing of muslims, they are seen as aggressors and tyrants.
They don't care if the US and British military is provided with beds or band aids.

They tend to see only the military aspect of the issue.
And i was taking the thread from that point of view.

My point secured to an extent.
The US has not had relations with Iran for a long time.
However they want their support because the more the Islamic nations support the attack the justification is then more plausible.
However the US seems to be ignoring the calls of many muslim nations for the simple issue of proof.

Egypt's leader Mubarak asked for that on a CNN interview as did the crown prince in the US press conference.
Hariri - Lebanon Premier asked for that as well as the King of Jordan.
Just me babbling on what i have seen so far on BBC and CNN.

Why is this news to anyone??

The US has had to fight largely unsupported in most major international incidents since WW2. Even UN operations like Korea saw the US providng 90-95% of the military effort.

Its the same old rubbish. Pledges of support and sympathy and no action. Well, the US will rid the world of Terror alone if need be.

@Aegis: no offence but the Canadian military is comparatively weak. Rest assured though, they will provide ships, planes and manpower. My prayers go with young Canadians who will fight and die next to their brothers and sisters in the US & UK.

@Grunt: No offense taken. I know the Canadian military isn't the best, but that's not what peeved me. It's the fact we, as the Americans closest friends, and neighbours, didn't even get a mention for the support we have given. The address wasn't just about military aid, but about finacial as well, and still, we were left out. It really makes me wonder about the American governments veiws of Canada...

@Aegis - I am sorry I misunderstood your original rant - I thought it was directed here...

I do not know about the original address you refer to. Fas' discussion of support I now know relates purely to military support.

I posted my ideas about support, being that they can be more than military, but as Fas has said - this type of support may not be considered as any support in the eyes of people who are fanatically looking for bloodshed.

What I believe as a 'westerner' regarding support is not considered as support by certain nations.

No country should be brought down by 'westerners' because of the type of support they offer - how it is perceived by the perpetrators is irreleveant - how we perceive it as support is vital... :)
