Hey whats up everyone im new and very surprised to see that there is an active forum for this game which is awsome.I just installed BG2 and the expansion to play over again because last time i played i was about 14 and dont remeber too much.
i had a few questions as well if anyone dosnt mind to answer them you seem like a nice community to me
One of my party members died or is unconcoius im not sure whichever he is,But his portrait is greyed out and i was wondering how i bring him back.
Also my main character is a invoker and im pretty sure i remeber that you can somehow level up spells for example my magic missle only shoots 4 i remeber being able to shoot 6 or 8 i was wondering how you level up magic.
As you can tell im pretty noob to this game and dont remeber alot of things. If any of you guys out there know a few things i would be glad to get some pointers with mabye some of the stuff the game dosnt really explain how to do so well.Any vital points anyone can make for me about the game would be a great help.
If a portrait is greyed out, said character is dead. You need to find a temple and pay for a raise dead spell if one of your characters cannot cast it yet.
your magic gets better as you gain levels, that is the only way (and magic missile has a max of 5 missiles.)
Harpers also have a Harper's Call spell that does the same thing without the permanent penalty that the Raise has, which is a rather big drawback if you find teammates dying often.
Magic levels up with more spellcaster levels. A level 5 Mage is more powerful than a level 4 Mage, and some spells, like Magic Missle, becomes more powerful cast by a higher level Mage than cast by a lower level one. If you read the spell descriptions, you will note that it reads something like "+1 missile per 2 caster levels" or something along the line.
If you can still find the Manual, it does wonders to read it through for a refresher on the basics of the game.

i think i may have messed up im in the slums district of the first city and i am working on getting 20,000 gold for the next part of the story and i was reading a walkthrough that told me after i was finished talking to galen about the money i would step outside and a guy named brus would take me to do my stonghold quest well i passed that up and was wondering if i screwed myself out of it i hope not can anyone help me out?
Possibly a mistaken reference to the permanent loss of one point of constitution that the raised character should suffer each time they are raised, which Bioware decided not to implement. Bioware also decided to allow Raise dead to work on Elves which PnP 1st/2nd Edition didn't allow of course.
Distrbution of games, is becoming a little like Democracy (all about money and control) - in the end choice is an illusion and you have to choose your lesser evil.
And everything is hidden in the fine print.
In some circumstances dual classing can be more powerful than single classing, but you cannot have a character kit (archer, kensai etc.) in your second class, so if you really like to have a kit in your second class, don't dual.
Dual classing can be really powerful in very specific combinations though. A lot of people's favourites include the kensai dualed into mage (often at level 9 or 13) and the Berserker dualled into cleric (also usually done at level 9 or 13). The Ranger dualled into cleric also has some fans, due to a game glitch: The ranger cleric will have both cleric and druid spells to choose from all the way up to 7th level spells.

Yea... one unimplemented bonus which I never did notice since I cheat by reloading those single deaths to overcome the supposed loss... either that or more generally, it's no deaths or the entire party gets wiped out. Good to know though, a few less reloading fights now.
