Missing NPC and other bugs..

Post by Scottg »

I started playing this game about a week ago, everything fine until recently (or at least it seemed that way).

But now Grobnar goes missing whenever I try to enter the Docks or Blacklake after doing all quests related to the trial. This of course screws up the game for the trial (with an arena battle that never happens).

Anyway - so after more than day plus of finding out exactly what was going wrong (Grobnar's disappearance and pet summons), and what is supposed to be the "cure":
Neverwinter Nights: Tech Support (Self-Help) Starts Here...
#8 in that thread, it turns out that:

WHEN I RIGHT CLICK ON THE PET SUMMON TO *UNSUMMON* IT - THERE IS NO OPTION TO UNSUMMON!

What to do?

Additionally, a few items seem to have their damage resistance missing:
Whitebone Armor +2 (half-plate) - missing 10 in blunt damage resistance.
The Regal (helm) - missing the +6 (soak damage 5).
Robes of the Old Order - missing its damage resistance (..as is the improved version).

Now with these items I haven't tested to see if the damage resistance is *actually* remvoved or not, but at least in the item's description it is removed.

Anyone else experienced this problem?

There are a couple of threads in this forum which deals with missing companions and the bugs caused by animal companions/familiars. Try doing a search on that topic.

As for the missing attributes, try updating your game to get them corrected.

Yup, as there are on the bioware site (..as of course I went through already, having found the make-shift correction). As it turns out my problem was one of execution - seems I inadvertantly left clicked on the familiar after left clicking on the correct NPC for that familiar. :p

Also, I have the latest build. ;)

As a follow-up:

I tested the "The Regal's" damage reduction out, it no longer exists. Presumably other damage reduction items with missing descriptions no longer have that capability either.

Under each Ranger, Druid and Spellcaster behavior Options:

Turn off Use Ability. This is what makes them summon their familiars/companions.

Specifically: Bishop, Elanee, Qara, Sand (whom has a CAT, of all things....) and possibly the PC, if you took a class with such ability.

Note: To Unsommon a Familliar NOT YOUR OWN (and the same holds very true for Animal Companions of the Druid & Ranger), you must be actively controlling the NPC who summoned them.

Hence: If you are currently controlling the PC, you can't unsummon Bishop's Wolf, Elanee's Badger, Sand's Cat or Qara's Weasel.

If you don't have a save back early enough, I'm afraid you may have to start over again. If there is a code for the Cup and the cloak, I don't know it. Grobnar is Needed to gain the Construct, who is one HECK of a nice fighter.
