What kinda character do you guys recommend for a newbie :P
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

It depends on how you like to play. Do you prefer a magical approach, a Tech approach or a sneak thief approach?

For magic, a background that enhances Willpower is advantageous, for tech Intelligence is pretty essential, and for melee/thieving Strength and dexterity are the prime attributes.

Avoid backgrounds that give a bonus to skills, they aren't worth it.

If you are going the magic route, harm is a decent start spell, don't worry too much about the fact that it's Necro-Evil.
Distrbution of games, is becoming a little like Democracy (all about money and control) - in the end choice is an illusion and you have to choose your lesser evil.

And everything is hidden in the fine print.
A very simple, yet effective character: max melee, max dodge, Necro/White, Force spells (Shield is awesome!), Fireball, Haste, near the end Teleportation. Focus on Dex & Str, take "Only Child" as background.
