NWN2 on Vista
I played my NWN2 on my XP laptop, but my laptop broke >_<
I can't seem to get it to work on vista, what would you recommend?

it worked for me, but i must say that vista (windows update) downloaded an update for my video card...then it didn't work so all i did was download the latest patch for my video card from the card maker for vista.
the game runs great with just about everything wide open.

Thats funny. Didn't you get the option to install the Direct 3D when installing the game?bushwhacker2k wrote:I just patched up NWN2 and checked out why it doesn't work (as I had forgotten). It says I need Direct 3D, what would you guys recommend I do? (please don't say 'Get direct 3d', i need to know how and where)

I don't know if this will be useful, but you could try testing out if your system is able to run NWN2 with System Requirements Lab. Just click NWN2 on the scroll down menu, and it will run a diagnostic scan on your PC to see if is suitable for running the game. It may help you trouble shoot, I'm not sure.bushwhacker2k wrote:I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it didn't give me a Direct3D option.
I've checked around and it may be a video/graphics card problem, is there someway to check this?

Well I run XP Pro, but I have the 8800 GTS (320 mb). It is direct X 10 capable, so it ought to be good for Vista.bushwhacker2k wrote:Thanks dragon, i actually checked that link from a different nwn2 forum and it looks like it's definitely my graphics card. What card would you recommend i get for my vista?
So far, seeing it on XP, I'm extremely impressed, but others here with Vista, will, of course, be able to give you a proper recommendation.

It appears he has the same problem as bushwhacker2k. His graphics card isn't all that good to handle both Vista and NWN2 at the same time. Asked him to get an upgrade. Anyway, thanks Xan.Xandax wrote:I have had no problems getting NwN to run on Vista x64 at all.
I think it might be a hardware issue or driver issue, if failing.
