Hello, i am new in this forum and i would like to ask the next thing:
I am playing with a solo Sorcerer and the things are something easy, but after a while i start to think:
- I will reach the limit of Xp soon and the rest of the quests then will be just for fun (i only have SoA, no mod, just official patch).
- I could add two members to my sorcerer to make the things more fun.
So i first my first add could be -Jan Jansen AKA: NABO- , because i need a good thief and more magic stuff would be great.
The second add is the difficult. I have my doubts, here is where a need you to help me:
1_ Valygar (I never played with him and i want give him a chance).
2_ Minsc (Bubu!).
3_ Keldorn (Carsomyr?).
4_ Haerdalis or whatever (also never played with).
5_ Any suggestion?
6_ Should i keep playing alone?
Please be generous about my english, i am from Argentina, and i not usally speak too much english. :laugh:

I suggest getting Throne of Bhaal as well as it sets the experience cap to eight million.
Aside from that, you should still do quests, at least for the items.
Jan, in my opinion, has the potential to be the strongest NPC within the entire game, so good job there.
For the second character I would suggest Haer 'Dalis as I think Bards (Blades) are very fun to play.
If you want to, you can also choose an NPC to romance, depending on your gender. Anomen if female and Aeirie, Jahiera or Viconia if male.
Unless you want the challenge, you should get more members.

I have a few questions.
Is this the first time you have played Shadows of Amn?
Would you rather not install Throne of Bhaal?
Do you enjoy having NPCs in your party? Do you enjoy their dialogues?
If this is your first game, I think it is best to play Shadows of Amn without the Throne of Bhaal expansion pack. (You can install Throne of Bhaal after you have finished the original version of Shadows of Amn and start a new game.) Consequently, because of the experience cap, a larger party is better than a smaller party, since no experience you earn will go to waste if you have five or six members in your party.
In my opinion, the game is also more fun if you have more than one or two party members. I enjoy the interaction between the NPCs and their dialogues. Even more, I enjoy controlling more than one character when I play. (Of course, that requires more use of the Space bar to pause the game.)
When it comes to NPCs, Imoen has enough thieving skills to serve as your Thief, but on top of that, she can become a very powerful Mage. This makes her an excellent alternative to Jan if you don't want both of them in your party. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with choosing BOTH of them.
The multi-class NPCs are at a disadvantage in Shadows of Amn because of the experience cap--they do not reach levels high enough for them to reach their full potential. Consequently, I prefer single-class and dual-class characters in Shadows of Amn.
However, if you install Throne of Bhaal, multi-class characters can reach their full potential, and they are possibly the most powerful characters in the game.
If you only intend to play Shadows of Amn at this time, I recommend the following party:
Main character - Sorcerer
Imoen
Jan
Minsc
Keldorn
Anomen
If you decide to play Throne of Bhaal and start a new game, I recommend the following party:
Main character - Sorcerer
Jan
Aerie
Jaheira
Sarevok
If you decide to install use the same party in both Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal, I recommend the following party:

I also see the game funier if i use more than 1 NPC, but i played with 6 and it a bit boring, i think i want no more than 3 new members....

Another option is to remove the (ridiculous IMO) Level cap, if this appeals to you then I recommend the BG2 & ToB Level 50 Patch & XP Cap Remover by TeamBG which can be downloaded here: Sorcerer's Place - Baldur's Gate 2 Editors, Hacks & Scripts

I think Haer' Dalis is better at dealing and taking damage, not to mention at higher levels (in ToB) he can use ANY item. Having spellcasting abilities as well as trap setting, the Blade bests Valygar in every single aspect, aside from backstabbing.
I find Sorcerers to be one of the easiest classes to solo.

it all depends what you want from the game - having NPC interaction is one of the plus points for BG2.
if that doesn't interest you, then for interest I would go with Viconia/Anomen - both become powerful and can be challenging at times.
Romance etc - if male - Jaheira (it's complex) and she can kick butt.
for naked spellcasting power Edwin is the best.
Keldorn with Carsomyr is very powerful and his dispel magic and true sight are both very useful - he's my favorite tank, until Sir Anomen arrives all beefed up using cleric power to augment his muscles wielding the flail of the ages and Crom F.
hae'd gets better as the game goes on - at low leveles he seems a tad effete, but as HLA level he is pretty darn useful!
I am presently playing multiplayer with 2 PCs - a multi mage/thief and a ranger - rangers are an interesting class. I am using the first few NPCs at present as I have only just emerged from Ir's dungeon, but once a bit settled will choose my NPCs depending on the quests.
I suggest that the OP needs to decide what kind of game they want to play.
