Do you have a recent save you can go back to? It sounds like something didn't trigger properly, and if you try again maybe it would work.

If not, unless something has changed since I last played the campaign, the door at #9 can be picked, and you can go straight to the end.

Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

There is only one statue in the temple, and it sounds like you activated it. Are you having trouble with a different statue?

I would advice you to check the walkthrough for the locations;
off the top of my head:
1 in the clear open.
1 in the "mines" (where you gather spirits to "open a tree)
1 in the Temple of Season
1 in dungeons infested with Goblins and Ogres
1 after the "Song portal" has opened.

There are two ways to complete the various "seasons" challenges:
  1. enter the room, read the book, kill the spawned enemies and only then go to the next door
  2. pick the lock on the door straight in from the entry to the FIRST room (IIRC, Winter)
If you use the second choice, every season that you have not completed will be short-circuited and not start. This option will, however, get you immediately to the only necessary statue in the temple.
It's better to be a live jackal than a dead lion, but it is better still to be a live lion (and normally easier as well).
