CE Glitch???

Post by canis4play »

Last night I was over by Mog's hideout and decided to try the Giant Scorpion. I hit all the little guys with a fire bust to clean them out then started a melee with the Giant one. Just for experimental purposes I popped a Summon Deathlord. As soon as he made his first hit the game froze. I had to shut down, and resart the puter and load again.
I tried this same tactic again, and again the same result. Is there a problem with the summon Deathlord spell? I really hope not. Or is it the Giant Scorpion? Could live without the 100K.
I will try tonight to go through this with out the little extra help and see what happens.
Any input will be nice.Thanks

dunno since I rarely if ever use nether spells, and didn't ever try out the deathlord... But I sometimes have a similar issue with hostile Ninjas (no matter whether I use their original model or the model of Elvithra), they sometimes freeze the game when they're close to a rock. Does your Summon Deathlord spell work if you use it on other monsters? AFAIK there's something odd about the deathlord, I heard reports that sometimes it turns on you, maybe it freezes because it tries to turn on you in mid-swing? Or maybe the Giant Scorpion has the same bug like the ninjas and freezes when it gets too close to a rock?

Come to think of it giant scorpion was backed up on the mountain side in retreat.
This was my first time using the spell. Dont need it to beet the thing but wanted to see if the spell worked, what it looked like and how it acted.
Fortunately I have a save about 10 feet from the trigger point for the scorpions.
I will try to mess with it some tonight see what happens. I hate having to reload though. I just dont know how folks can sit and reload on chests, just to see what they can get. Open it once and keep on going.
Hopefully the deathlord is not bugged,
Thanks for the reply

"Summons" and high graphics content can kill a game in certain "buggy" areas.. My games become almost unplayable in the Demon realm and the final fight in the Maze. (..the "witch" in the Maze uses her staff to summon undead all the time.)

Chances are your summon was "around" when you hit the automated monster drop period (i.e. the time when if you are running it "stops" to load in a random moster "spawn").

I tried it again last night but with out summoning the Deathlord. Worked fine, even pushed the Giant Scorpion back up in to the same spot of the mountian. The summons may have a glitch in it for me.
I will try again somewhere else and see what happens.
Thanks
Was fighting Mog and his buddies, I had 4 angels with me, they surrounded lizard face while I did battle with Mog. When I got back to him. I was like they where just pulling gaurd duty on him. No interaction. He just stood they like he knew if he made a move he was done.
Wish I had the screen shot software for that.

You can make a screen shot by pressing the "print screen" key. Then don't forget that you did, since the game doesn't automatically place a screenshot in the DL folder - after you closed the game, open Paint and press "ctrl-V" to make the screenshot appear in Paint (works with other image editing programs, or at least it should, but I always use Paint) and save it. Voila! :)

Deathlord spell problems

Well I tried out this spell again fighting the minatour in the arena, just to see what would happen.
If you are any where in front and even to the side of the deathlord when he pulls up a spell you get the damage also. That bites.
And yes my game froze up again, this time I noticed that we both made a melee strike at the same instance, and freeze. I also noticed that he did not seem to go away, or lasted an extreme amount of time. I did 6 battles in the arena just taking my time watching the show, and he was still there that is untill I got locked up.
So not a lot of use for this spell.

the deathlord spell

It's great the higher you get in nether levels especially in the castle Ulm where you can let him gaurd your back. You will take damage from any of your summons especially if the deathlord finally turns on you if your nether level is not high enough when you first summon him.

As far as I know ALL summons are essentially opponents (though fighting for you unless they "turn"). The only one that effectively won't "turn" is the blessed spirit (i.e. the celestial one that only heals).

Note I've had crashes with Divine Sprits when they fire lightning bolts.. so it isn't just DeathLords.

Its set up so that:

1. It can "turn".
2. It can hurt/kill your character (melee or magic).
3. You can hurt/kill it.

#3 is particularly important for game balancing - which practically speaking means that you are limited to using fewer types of attacks lest you kill your summon (i.e. don't use an area attack or you are sure to harm/kill your summon).

Also..

DeathLords can last a VERY long time (as can Divine Spirits) - not only having excellent armor/parry/magic/element resistance, but also having a LOT more hitpoints than your character.

The key is your skill level for that summon.. IF its only Nether level 9 for your DeathLord summon then the summon is only average overall. Get it up to 13 (plus) and the DeathLord becomes a LOT harder to kill.
