Fallout 2 shop bug

Post by maktab »

The weapons shops in New Reno and San Francisco are all empty. Every time I try to purchase something, the shop owners' inventories are empty. Anybody know what's up? The weird thing is that I've played it through once already and didn't have this problem the first time. Thanks.

As no-one has offered any solutions yet, I can only think of one thing: bug.
As the Fallout 2 is very buggy, you even strange ones happen more or less regulary, I wouldn't be suprised if this one is one of those. So, basically, I can't think of any other way to solve this than reinstalling the game... Not sure if after reinstalling it would be fixed in older saves as well, though that would be one thing to try... Just take a backup of your saves before doing the reinstalling, at least then you shouldn't lose anything (excluding time).

Though, waiting may help. So, why not go outside of the town, and run around the world map couple of days. Perhaps, when the resupllying of that precise shop happens, the shop is full of items again. I know, it's rather unlikely to work, but can't think any better solution.

I believe it's that a bug where there's too many items in the game and the game stops creating more (shops hit especially), most of the times I've experienced it is late in the game and it tends to happen in tandem with pipboy log errors.

I don't believe that there's a reliable solution :( except maybe starting a new game.

Spoiler
, it has yet to return
