Demon Key (Spoiler)?

Post by Claudius »

I wanted to fight the demon in the tomb of souls. Not the one you bargain with but there is another worth 1 million xp but you need the demon key to unlock the door.

Gamebanshee walkthrough says you need the demon key from the naga temple, but I couldn't find any mention of a demon key in the naga temple walkthrough.

Thanks

Hi Claudius:

There is a thief in the prison area of the Naga temple that has the key in question, and when you free him, he *can* give it to you. The fact is, he is a jerk who tries to weasel out of giving up the key, put if you persist he eventually gives it up. This thread may be of use to you, as it details about the demon key and how to get it if you missed the opportunity. If you use the editor to get the key, be sure to make your advancement points equal your experience points and then you won't lose any levels. :)

Thanks Kathy, but in my case I'd rather kill 50 minotaurs than learn to use a hex editor

Well, I can't blame you there, but the game editor in the sticky isn't a hex editor per se, and is very easy to use. At any rate, with this game and it's respawns you can sort of make up the points anyway, even if you miss the demon. :)

Yeah I'll set the encounter rate to max somewhere deadly. With 100 blast nova books that could be a good idea

Well Claudius.. time for another go through! :)

One thing that should be pointed out that I did NOT find in that linked thread:

Initiate dialog with the thief before letting him out - and go through all the dialog.

Then..

That particular thief runs around to the "back" of the cell area (never actually "leaving" that room/area. Quickly follow him and don't interrupt his "flight" before then.

When he stops at this area ONLY then go talk to him and go through his dialog to get the key. Be quick about it though because he does "fad-away" rather quickly once he stops at the back of the cell area (..near a low "bridge" if I remember correctly).

Of course make a save game before doing the above.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, the thread is useful if you want the demon key and haven't had the opportunity to get it, in other words if you missed your chance with the thief.

thief

if you do any dialogue early and just follow him to far side of room he will automatically give u key without any more dialougue as long as you are in range. at least has past 2 times for me. just stand next to him when he stops and he says something along the line of this is your reward. when u look in your inventory then u will have the demon key.

i do always save just before i release him thou just to be safe.

hope that helps

Demon Key

The thief is a jerk so once he gives you the key and before he fades away you can kill him for being so difficult. It will net you a whopping 1700 experience points but strangely it is quite satisfying. (In my defense he attacked me first as I was between him and some snakes and he threw and knife through my head.) Once we killed the snakes and he gave me the key, lets just say I paid him back.
