Components in PC version?
When I break down items in the PC version I only get 1 or 2 components. I thought it was supposed to be like this, until today I was able to break down items into 300 or 400 components if they were really good, and my friend told me it was like that all the time in the XBox version. Then it went back to being just 1 or 2 again. Is there something wrong with my game, or are they all like that?

My guess is this belongs in the SW:KOTOR 2 forum - so moving it there.
When making threads, please first post in the proper forum (ask for help from a moderator via PM if unable to find the prober forum) and secondly make the thread title and post indicating what game you need help with if there is doubt.
Those things will help you getting help, more so then just dumping a "grey" post in the first forum you find.

The number of components you get when you break something down is, I think, related to the Repair skill of the PC. If the PC has not put any points into repair and has a lowish INT you will only get 1-2 components for stuff.
However, it has been reported on rival sites to this one that it can be buggy, particularly if a companion is in lead and the PC is in the party when you try to use the workbench. Sometimes it uses the companion's repair skill, sometimes the PC's.
Was that time when you were getting 400 during the Sith tomb, by any chance? Because then it uses the companion's repair skill, not the PC's, I believe.

Repair
My well informed friend is correct. if you have a repair skill of 20 with at least 10 intelligence you can get the maximum amount of components for everything you break down.
This corresponds with breaking down things into chemicals at a lab station. The higher your skill in treat injury the more chemicals you will receive when you break items down.
