Mods/Build/?'s

Post by joe05 »

... first of: "thanks to everyone for the help"
We're at the "Hunter" phase of Bloodmoon.

Really enjoy the game(...bought another copy GOTY edition PC) ... Mournhold was a bit disappointing; short

Never found that clothing on Solstheim to up my magicka ... had to hack my way through this Map :-)

One quick question before I go into my mod choices + new build.
Do you quest in order ... Vvardenfell > Mourhold > Slostheim
I found some "stuff" in Mourhold and Slostheim that was equivalent or a bit better than stuff found earlier = but if I was working over 3 maps and assorted quests, I think I would lose my mind :-)
By the time I get the stuff on Mournhold/Solstheim, I don't really need it :-(
----------------
Ok, I went thru the mod stickey.
Sorry, if I misspell a name or two ... hands are cramping from the writing/typing
But, I'd like to get everything correct now, in case I finish the game tonight ... don't want to waste a minute starting the next character

Don't know where to find all these mods ... from what I read, Morrowind Summit & planetelderscrolls

Here are my choices ... if any conflict, please tell me ... if my computer will blowup, please tell me(Computer Specs: Chip = P4-3.0 / fsb 800 ... RAM = 1gb DDR2 @ 533 ... Card = X800XL 256mb)
I'm not tech savvy .... best as I can remember the specs ... if you need clarification please ask ... you can message me if this forum does not allow it ... thought it best to ask and give the specs in my mod thread

43) Suran Hillside Manor ... says CS or I need buyable mod ? .. someone explain :-)

Using ... Fair Magicka Regeneration + Galrean mods

*** any typos; sorry ... writing became more scribbled as we progressed ***

If my computer will blow up, if you see redundancies, if you some I can do without; please let me know.
Looking to add more quests; more houses(... like to remodel) + a companion here and there would be nice ?
Basically, I hated for the game to end.

My next build will be "custom" ... I see what I can and can't do
Major - Mysticsm>Illusion>Alteration>Heavy Armor>Medium Armor
Minor - Marksman>Spear>Restoration>Athletics> Sneak(... tough, because I have to auto-walk + hold down the Sneak key .. the ol' manual dexterity problem) or Armorer(... think I only found one = don't want to pick it if I can't find the master trainer)
Race - Dark Elf
Sign - Atronach

If any info falls outside the rules of the forum, please PM me.

Computer stuff + adding mods is new to me = I could mess this up
Well, I'm sure I will mess it up.
They all look so darn good .. I was trying to stop at 10, then 20 ... figured, heck, write them all down :-)
Are they all still available ? ... Easy to find ? ... Easy to implement ?(...The scrpit extender to launch the game has me confused)

Thanks for all the help.
I figure, leave you guys alone on the questing/fighting ... beg for help on the "big stuff" :-)

BTW ... thought I was "chesse" ... overleveled; CE on clothing and AbsbHlth on my sword = I was "Swiss Cheese" many times
Figured out Hulk-mode ... after a particularly tough nobody in Mournhold had me running for my life
No idea how Dragon Wench plays with a dagger :-)

Joe...glad to see how your doing...looks like you're hooked like the rest of us...
as for mods...I tend to the simple....less is better with me...
even through my hard drive has LOTS...
current game has Mournhold extrended, Abu's Retreat(simple house mod), Ice's was too over the top for me, although it was nice to wander around it, the character in the alchemy lab was too much for me.... a couple of small quest mods, quite a few clothing mods... a book mod, and the rotate book mod.
Soul gem texture mod, and a few more small mods....

an earlier game I went crazy with mods....and had some conflicts...
floating houses....frame rate, etc....and some glitches... so now I've cut down on the number...I'll check for sure which I run at the same time and PM the details....oh yeah one mod adds the Ayelid race that my daughter plays..cannot remember the name...oh well ......memory loss...

I'm an xboxer so don't know much of mods but your initial build is good. I suggest swapping one of the armour skills for long blade as you have no strength skill. Athletics is redundant as a skill, it goes up fast enough anyway. As you seem to be going for a mage I suggest either destuction and changing your sing to the aprentice as then you can regen magica OR choosing alchemy as then you have easy acess to restore magica potions. Favoured attributes should be one of strength to help you carry your armour etc or endurace to get some health under your belt fast and inteligence as this works really well with magica boosing signs

I've run over 200 mods at one time without any problems. The point is to watch for area or text conflicts; all the rest don't matter. I've already recommended tools for finding these difficulties and correcting them--should be up in the sticky thread about mods, as well. If it isn't, just tell me, here, and I'll repost.

Well, I can say right off the bat that Whispering Wood and Lokken conflict with one another. Between the two, I'd go for Lokken ;)

I've also noticed you have *a lot* of large quest mods listed on there (Lokken, The Underworld, Illuminated Order, 6 th House Mod, Issilar, Lothaver's Legacy, The Way of the Talon) , which I imagine is why you are posting this...
In general it's not a great idea to play more than one big quest mod at once, just because of possible conflicts, although I do know for sure that some of those mods are fine together (Issilar and Lokken). Also, Havish and Haldenshore are by the same author, so those two work together as well.
I have the feeling, just because of its premise, that Issilar will conflict with 6th House... but I might be wrong. Issilar requires that you have completed the Main Quest through the normal "hero" route.... and I'm not sure how the 6th House will impact that.

Regarding your computer, it looks just fine (I have a P3 with 384 MB RAM, so if I can sort of run 100 plus mods, you'll have no trouble.)

Suran Hillside Manor is partially unfurnished, so you need a furniture mod. Dave Humphries, IMO, is the best, but there are some other good ones too.
To complement Dave Humphries I'd also suggest Faylynn's paintings (volumes 1 and 2), Faylynn's braided rugs, and LM's Historical Tapestries. These can all be found at Planet Elderscrolls. You'll need to register to download mods, but you don't need to subscribe (contrary to the impression they seem to give you).

Don't worry about the CS. That is just a reference to the construction set for people who know how to add furniture into their game via modding techniques. The actual furniture shop mods work very well, so no need to be concerned.

lol! playing with a dagger is challenging, and I vary it. Besides... right now my character has a *very* wicked sword from Tribunal.. and that is just way too nice to ignore :D

As Fable wrote, there are conflict detectors, and they are well worth checking into. I find that they can be difficult to interpret, but I tend to have trouble with tasks like that. :o

...thanks

Amapasand, actually I'm trying to be an assassin :-)
Yeah, I know = spear; armor etc

The magic is easier on me; gameplay.
For STR, I up it by jumping everywhere ... worked previously
Athletics is to up my SPEED.

If I mess up - do over :-)
----------------------------
I will download all of them.
But, only mark off one quest mod per play.
Yes, I don't like for this game to end.

I guess I can download them to my data files, then choose them before each play ?
----------------------------
Did not notice a "conflict detectors" ?
I read the mod choices, then some info on each.
Will go thru the 6 pages again :-)
Guess if I have a conflict; do over .... uncheck some mods etc
Will have to learn the hard way ... I know the list is long and I don't know what to drop
Point noted on Lokken and Whispering Wood = only select one at a time
Also, yes, I thought 6th house might not be ok with "good" mods = we'll see how that goes ... wanted to be bad, at least once

I still have to find and download them all = oh joy
I noticed some had links :-)
----------------------------
At one point, awhile back, I thought I noticed a mod for a shop that sold Bows ?
Since the bows are weak, I wanted to add it.
Did not see it in the stickey = maybe I'm thinking of another mod
----------------------------

Thanks for the advice/info/help.
Going to see if the Hunter whoops me like the rest did.
If I finish, then we start downloading.
Then we worry about conflicts ... I read about the Seyda Neen mods, but not much else ... guess like DW, I overlook the "fine print"

I guess trial & error will be my course of action :-)
This mod stuff is all new to me.

DW, yes two nice swords in Tribunial.
Nice armor too.
Nice weapons and armor in Bloodmoon.
And I couldn't use any :-(

I can see, no matter who/how I play, those 3 magic schools will be in my Majors :-)

Joe, before installing anything you may want to check out this extremely useful guide on using mods :)

Regarding finding said mods, most of those you mention can be found at Planet Elderscrolls, I gave you the link in my previous post. ;)

There are three Marksman shops that I know of, one in Suran, a second in one of the Vivec cantons and another near the Vivec foreign quarter. Unless somebody beats me to it, I'll try to track down their names for you tomorrow (too sleepy just now). There are also several fletching mods around that allow you to make your own bows and arrows... I don't know a lot about them though, others here might have more information.

Planetelderscrolls is Morrowind Summit. I think they changed it for oblivion or something. I'm not sure.

I've suggested in the mods section Telesphoro's list of mods because it has plenty of links, as well as good descriptions. Several of the ones you want are in that list, and at least one that isn't, Adul's, still leads you to Adul's main site where another mod of his exists. It's easy to get to what you need from there.

Some Marksman-oriented mods:

Harlequin Sword and Bow

Suran Archery Tradehouse

Vivec Marksman shop

Ultimate Ranger Mod

Area of Effect Arrows

And definitely check out the Telesphoros link posted above... IMO it is the best listing of MW mods out there.

That should keep you busy ;) Don't go too nuts with mod installation though...

btw, since you are getting into mods, I highly recommend Zip Genius. This great little utility will unpack any mod format, Winzip, 7Z, Winrar, Winace etc. Modders use a variety of formats since Winzip is not nearly as efficient as some of the others I've listed.

EDIT,
another thing that occurs to me is that you might want to look into a texture replacer for this install, it will give your game a whole new atmosphere and feel. If you look under the Textures category at Planet Elderscrolls you'll find numerous to choose from. In general, Textures, unlike mods, do not cause conflicts since they don't have an esp/esm file.

... sorry Fable, missed that link :-)

Did read the link DW sent.
Not tech savvy, so I don't think much "sunk in".

Will go back to Fable's links.
Thank you MageLord !!!

I pushed a bit too hard last night ... reading/downloading
Missed my meds by 2hrs = I think my comprehension drifted as the pain built
Up(LOL)
Going to take it easy this morning and hope "all the mods" work tonight.
Yes, notice .rar, .zip, .exe(..Mournhold) and a .zrf ot that 7Z DW noted(?)
I just hope they're all in Data Files with the box I can check :-)
If not, oh no, we're lost.

I comprimised between Blue Sky and Dragon Wench.
Only 18 mods ... I opted fior the smaller ones

The Mournhold Expanded mod was the only large one.
Of those "large quest" mods ... I picked "Talon" and "Invisibles"
Willl check on the others now.

Did not find the Suran Hillside Manor, but did find the Suran Archery mod.
Will look for the Manor in Fable's link.

Hopefully, I complete my list this morning.
I will post, to make sure you guys approve :-)

Sorry to have you guys do all the work and re-post links.
I missed Fable's link and DW mod link just overwhelmed me(... started note taking)
Only Diablo 2 LoD and Morrowind GOTY has caused me to miss my meds.
----------------------------------------
Amapasand - yep, you have me thinking.
How did I up my STR playing my current spellcaster ... Acrobatics are a MISC skill
I might have to put Longsword in MINOR ?

Last night was taxing = maybe when my body relaxes and I can concentrate, I will remember how I upped my STR without having it in MAJOR/MINOR ... all I remember is, I jumped like a rabbit early on
Right now I'm on auto-pilot till I rest this afternoon :-)

I will look over my current character(...exit from the glacier) = still have it in case I "mod-mess-up"

Wait until you get into building compound mods out of 10 or 20 small mods. Then you can run 300 mods, if you like, at the same time, and provided you have sufficient memory. Sense the POWER! ;)

...and I'm sure we can explain how, too.

... ok, here we go :-)
Don't know why some mods did not appear ... spelled most correctly ... yep, my scribbling messed up a few
Thanks for the links ... I added a few more

If you notice I'm too heavy and can/should delete; tell me.
If I can add safely(LOL), a new variety you see I'm missing that would add to the game, just tell me the name = I trust your advice
If I have to go "link looking", I'll add way more than I should :-)

Some noted bugs ?
If any are very buggy, tell me ... or I'll be here 24/7 ... Fable will kill me :-)
------------------
List........>
1) Haldenshore
2) Havish
3) 6th House
4) Abu's Retreat
5) Dodge
6) Sorefoot Enterprises
7) Disturb the Dead
8) Modtown 2004
9) Tarmar
10) Dave Humphrey's Furniture
11) Magical Trinkets IV
12) White Wolf of Lokken Mountain
13) Tombs Expanded
14) Illuminated Order of the Invisibles
15) Japaneses House
16) Lothavor's Legacy
17) The Way of the Talon
18) Mournhold Expanded ... a .exe and a 7Z patch (?) = really want this one, any problems implementing it ... all my others are zip/rar
19) Pearl Palace
20) Adul's Arcane Armature
21) Constance
22) Buyable Ghoark Manor V2
23) Acheron's Camping Gear ... downloaded both 1.5 and 2 (?)
24) Suran Hillside Manor
25) Suran Archery Tradehouse

A nice 25 ?
Too much overlap anywhere ?
Nothing in a good mod-category ... give me a name = don't leave it up to me :-)

I can't remember the ones where bugs were commonly mentioned ... I think 6th House and Lothavor's .. some had problems; others nothing ?

If all look ok, we start tonight.
----------------------------
Will go back and read up on "mods" (...DW link), though I don't know how much will sink in :-)

edit. just read the pm and have to add ...yes some texture mods and house mods have some issues.
My list of mods with the vibrant texture..so far no conflicts.

I supplied the link to Suran Hillside Manor in my last post in the mod sticky thread ;)

The mods in your list are all good individually, just be careful of conflicts. Looking at your quest mods, Tarmar, Lokken, Haldenshore and Havish, Mournhold Expanded, and Lothavor's Legacy should be fine together. I am not 100% certain though, so don't sue me or anything :D

The wild cards (for me) are 6 th House, Illuminated Order, and Way of Talon, none of which I have personal experience with.

Blue Sky - yes, like those self directing patches/mods :-)
Happy to see a .exe, never sure where to put the .zip or .rar ... now I see
a .7Z ?
Where do a send/path the patch for Mournhold Expanded ?
Or, is it a plugin and I just check the box in Data Files ... since Mournhold Expanded is a .exe, it will go somewhere = I'm asuming the patch for the mod should follow ?

Added the arrow mod ... thanks
Yes, without a radius, my bow will get me into more trouble.
----------------
Dragon Wench - would I sue you :-)
Found Suran Hillside Manor mod ... the links led to more links = almost started looking at more mods ... no self control

I'm not going to add any " big quest" mods till I at least hit/do all the "Houses" and "Faction" quests ... want to leave "new stuff" for later + I don't want to have a "over-questing-braincramp".

This play will just be Haldenshore, Havish and Mourhold Expanded.
I believe these were smaller ?
Of course Mournhold is a given ... thought it was a bit small/short previously

Will install the House-Building/Shops/Tombs/Constance etc

I hope all the downloads went well ... previously, I downloaded a mod and wrecked my NTFS/WIN32 ... my computer locked up ... had to chkdsk = files were corrupted and/or deleted ... I was a nervous wreck = when you don't know how to fix problems, you hate to "possibly" create them :-)

Hope I put the Mournhold patch in the right spot (LOL).

Thanks to everyone for the input.
If I mess up ... do over
Had a nice 4hr rest ... going to re-think Ampasands STR question/advice
I'm still perplexed how I added to it with no STR in MAJOR/MINOR and Acrobatics in MISC
Guess we put Longblade in MINOR ... play it safe

Going to read that mod link a bit ... try and see if the Mournhold Expanded patch has a read me etc

I hope those installs are going okay!
Everyone has a way of installing mods that they think is the best, or that works for them, so feel free to disregard me here. But, I always install mods manually, I find it much, much easier than trying to figure out file paths and so on.

This thread has some information on how to install mods manually.
