Problems uninstalling/reinstalling Fallout2..

Post by Kharas »

Sorry if this issue has been discussed before but I couldn't find anything on it when searching.

Anyway.
In an effort to fix another bug I reinstalled the game (the "Can not load Font" -error). However, this time I got the error message saying I can't play the game without the CD (even though I had chosen the humongous installation option). So I thought I'd reinstall it again but then it said: "Uninstall could not open or cannot use the following file 'C\Games\Fallout\uninst.log'. Uninstallation cannot continiue."
I checked out the folder where I had installed the game and it seems like alot of files are missing that should be there after installing the game. There was no uninstallation button for one, and also there were no files in the "Maps" folder and so on. I also tried to uninstall the game through the control panel but that didn't work either.

I heard about something called TweakUI that supposedly is able to force uninstallation and removal of files but I never figured out how it worked.

Also, I did try to patch (by unzipping some files to the folder) but I don't think it made any difference seeing as alot of files were probably missing. Oh, and this is the first time I install it in a long time so I haven't been playing this and suddenly the problem occured, it happened when I tried to start it after the installation.

Help anyone? :o

One solution would be to delete the game manually, then "force" the install to begin by double clicking instal.exe (or setup.exe) from the cd.
