Who, What, When and Where

Post by Enchantra »

Ok. Well I have been playing this game for a little while now and I am currently a level 10 mage. I have only joined the fighters guild and the mage's guild and I am going well with their quests and my advancement in the game.

I am trying to coordinate all my quests to occur in the same areas and I am wondering when you would advise to go and join a great house. I am thinking of the Telvanni as I love the magic and the evilness of it but I don't want anything in the game to clash with each other.

I have tried to look up and research but I am so confused by the fact everyone hates these people. Can I even join at such a young level in the game?

Ahh more quests please I am not doing enough already!!!!

Thanks for your help, E

I would say that the best time to join a house is when you are comfortable with doing so in your playing experience. For some people, that may be early; for others, it will be late. The house quests, though, do tend to be a bit difficult, and if you're going with Telvanni, it helps to have a lot of mana, and good spell availability in all schools. Mark and Recall are your friends, too.

I have mark and recall but I have my mark set to creeper. If I add the mod will I lose any of my game play? Is it too late to add the one that gets you a few everywhere?

When you can join is not determined by your level, but by your reputation. I see no harm in joining early, because, since almost no (if any, please remind me if I'm wrong) quests have a time limit, you can always wait until later if it's too challenging. And in my experience, the only thing that is barred from you once you have joined a house, is joining another house. I always join a house as soon as I am able, but then again, I rarely play Telvanni.

What mod is it you are referring to?

Oh, it's very simple, I just don't enjoy playing a mage so much in this game. Nothing to do with the quests or anything. If you're a mage, Telvanni is a good choice.

Hm, I thought fable was referring to the spells mark and recall.

I was referring to the mark and recall spells. You will need a good selection of spells to carry out Telvanni quests, and it would help to be proficient as well in at least one weapon.

Wow... This is such a vast game, I admire you for your efforts in trying to do that. If you are having trouble getting to place to place I definitely recommend the Multi Mark mod; you can usually install mods at any time, just be careful of possible conflicts between mods. There is also a great Teleport Spell mod (I linked it in the mod sticky thread) that allows you to warp to almost every town/city on the island when your Mysticism is high enough.

Regarding the Telvanni, personally I find them the most fun of all the Great Houses. The quests are generally interesting and provide you with some excellent rewards. And, even though it is in the middle of nowhere and likely to get hit by frequent dust storms, the Telvanni stronghold is probably the niftiest of the bunch too (IMO, anyway)
Basically, just join whatever Great House you are the most likely to enjoy roleplaying. My current high level character has had a blast being Telvanni. She's not really "evil" but she's very keen to acquire as much power in the magical arts as possible, so it's a perfect fit.

In terms of level, as has been mentioned, you can join a great house at any level; it really depends on how you feel.

I joined Telvanni at level 3. It's not really hard and house Telvanni is the most modded house. Especially the stronghold. Some really skilled modder has a project going now. The link's in his signature.

Seriously though. It's a good house and the first quests aren't hard at all and you get some decent spells for some as well. I'd go for it.

Thanks for all your advice!

I will definately look at joining the Telvanni house soon. I will finish my business in Ald'rhun and then head over to work it all out. My character is mighty fine with an axe (thanks to the dude with the cloudcleaver!!). I will look for the mod and see how I go.

Again thanks for all the advise! E

The best thing is that the givers for the first 11 quests are all in one room and you can just run to an alchemist and do about 3 quests in that many minutes

I was being big headed. I'm the one making the mod. The link's in my signature. Good Luck.
