NWN How do I?

I am very new to computer games and cannot figure out the control for 'placing' items. Specifically how do I place the crystal item into the chest in the Green Inn challenge? I can drop it anywhere but I cannot place it in the chest. I also have a problem placing the evil heart into the brazier in Wanev's Tower. Presumably it is the same command.

open the chest and drag the item across to it from your inventory

Thank you for your reply. I do open the chest and drag the item to it from my inventory but when I let go, it goes straight back to inventory.

The only time it does that is when the item is flagged in the database as being an item you are not allowed to drop or give to someone. It shouldn't be happening, unless you are dragging it to the wrong bit. Erm ... are you trying to just drop it anywhere in the chest's inventory or are you carefully placing it in an empty square in it?

If its the latter than which patches are you using in your game because it sounds like a bug?

Thank you for that. I was being dim and placing it in the inccorect area. All is now well and I will now continue on to Luskan.
