BREW POTION_Blind Sight becomes False Life.

Post by Kel »

I was wondering if anyone has any problems with the Brew Potion feat. I have had on a couple of attempts
where the potion turned out different from the spell I cast on the magical potion bottle. The one I have had
problem with is casting BlindSight and it will say BlindSight when you hover your pointer over it. This is what
you get when you examine the potion:

EXAMINE

Magic Potion - Blind Sight

Potions store various spells, both
beneficial and otherwise, until
consumed.

Base Item: Brewed Potion
Weight: 0.1 pound(s)

Special Properties:
Use: False Life Single Use

I have found that most of my other level 3 spells that I wanted have worked fine including Energy Immunity
and Magic Circle Against Alighment(Evil).

I have no clue as to why Blind Sight would turn into False Life. Have any other members run into this bug?

Sounds like a bug. You are using the latest patch, correct?

Latest Patch

Hi fable, thanks for the reply!

I am patched to v1.03 as I wasn't having any real problems in the game outside of a small journal bug that corrected itself when I finished the quest.

I didn't see anything in the patch v1.04 that addressed this problem. I tried to brew potions of a bunch of my three spellcasters level three spells and below and they either brewed a potion or gave me notice that it could not be done. I tried to brew Spiderskin to a magical bottle and it said 'This spell can not be used with the Brew Potion feat' and the same was true of Burning Hands. I tried a level four and got a failure notice about it being too high a spell level. Barkskin and Expeditious Retreat both worked. Blind Sight is a level three cleric and a level two wizard spell but both get the same results and that is False Life.

I will have to reread the details of patch v1.04 and see if I missed something. I have have been playing around with creating items and came up with a 'Heavens Astral Strike +5' doing 2d6 vs Evil and I think a 1d10 Sonic to pass the time. I will use it for my paladin's off hand in dual wield with 'Holy Avenger'.

Thanks for the help and it is time to reread the faqs on v1.04.

Congratulations! You found another crafting bug :p

There are a few weird things that happen and this seems like one of them. Another, which I have seen verified by other people, is trying to enchant armor with haste and getting delayed blast fireball 3x/day

I would head over the to bioware forums and see if anyone else has found this, and if not, I would report it in the "bugs" section so they patch it at some point.

Whoa, how did you do this? Did you apply a recipe to a longsword? Or get this from mixing recipe items with an ingot or something? Come up with anything else?

That's pretty cool though :)

Crafting Bug and some Cool Crafting

Hey Cyrinn, thanks for the reply!

I took an Astral Blade +2 which has the 1d10 Sonic and first applied the recipe for 'Base Weapon Enchantment +5' which makes it a +5 weapon. I then used the 'Holy Weapon' recipe which gave me '+2d6 Damage against Evil creatures' plus '1d10 Sonic' on a +5.

You have to name it at some point if you want so I did a little thinking and came up with 'Heaven's Astral Strike +5' with the max number of enchantments.

Holy Avenger in the right hand and Heaven's Astral Strike +5 in the left hand of my paladin. I might switch my left hand to a 'Rift Hammer of Disruption +6' for the 1d6 bludgeoning damage, the Slay Racial Group DC=14 Undead plus the Sonic 1d8 damage at times.

The hardest part about crafting is the naming part or modifying the name already given to the item. How about a 'Ring of Regeneration +4, Immunity to Mind Spells and Immunity to Death Magic' I am going to work on that one.

I read somewhere that you can modify either the color or look of an item but I have to find it again.

Ohhhhhh....I get it now, haha. I didn't realize that the astral blade had sonic 1d10 on it already...so you just added the rest and renamed it.

I have never heard that you can change the look/color of the weapon, but you can change the color of the text you enter when renaming it.
