More help

Post by rmemmett84 »

I'm now into the Brother's crypt. I'm fighting the brother and having the same problem I had with Desther...my weapon is "ineffective". I've tried killing all of his cronies and have searched his lair for something else I thought might be protecting him but have found nothing. QuenGalad mentioned this was a recurring theme. What am I missing?

Hello again :)

You mean the lich guy who has one of the books? I don't recall him having any "protecting" cronies. I should have mentioned this was a recurring theme, yes, but mostly for boss fights. Sorry, my bad. I'll try to be more precise next time :)

Well, 'the dead brother' is, like most liches, a mage, so he probably has some kind of protective spell on him. What weapon are you using? The same ones as with mr D? The lich may be protected against a +1 weapon...

Well, that's not nice, then... I played with a druid, and all the game having a scmitar +1 desert's wind (or something), so i had quite a lot of 'ineffective weapon'. But that particular guy i bashed with spells, so don't know about his attitude on weapons. Have you got any possibility to do a dispell on him? (wand, scroll, i guess you can't cast it?) If not, then i'm really at loss. Let's wait for mr_sir :D !

I'm not sure about which enhancement weapon you need, but I would have thought +2 should be enough as there are not really any more powerful weapons available at that stage in the game. Have you tried a weapon that does fire damage? Its just a thought as he is undead. I normally play as spell casters, but I'm pretty sure I didn't have too much trouble as a paladin. The only thing I can think of is that he is using spells to protect himself from your weapon, in which case either lay traps, try to dispel the spells, or sit and wait for their duration to run out (which is a bit of a cheat but it does work if you are patient enough).

Try right-clicking on him and clicking examine. It should tell you his immunities etc. (both natural and from spells) as well as his weaknesses.
