Removing or disabling cheat codes

Post by SpunkyVA »

Does any one know if this is possible. After I entered a cheat code for neverwinter nights 2 "irolltwenties" I can't get my character to go levels up (it goes levels up but I can't go through the stats and skills). Since my character is a sorccerer I need spells badly. Is there any hope for this anoyence?

Thank you in advance

DebugMode 1
givexp 200000
DebugMode 0

This will give you experience points (you can enter any number you want). Then you can just level up normally.

What has happened is that your SKILL points are set to 20s as well as your ABILITY points.
POINT - NWN2 level advancement has a small quirk in that you must use all but 5 skill points when you level up.
Therefore if you are not able to up your skills, you are unable to advance.

If you wait until you are 17th level before using this cheat, you will be able to then advance normally. You could also use it on Khelgar just before you change class to set his abilities - his skills are reset on class change. :speech:
NOTE - This could be a problem if you are a wizard because of the high intel bonuses and the inability to advance cross-class abilities.
It's better to be a live jackal than a dead lion, but it is better still to be a live lion (and normally easier as well).

Are you suggesting that I will need to play the game from scratch? Isn't there any command that allows me to disable a cheat code?

You could try to use the SetCHA, SetCON, SetSTR, SetWIS, SetINT, SetDEX cheats, but I'm not sure how much they'll influence your skill points. I do know that Intelligence directly influences how many skill points you have to distribute, so maybe setting INT to a very low score will allow you to lower the skill points to a number that you still can distribute and thus advance. As far as I know, directly editing the skill points involves mucking around with a savegame, and I know nothing about that.

If that doesn't work, try 'resetlevels', which involves giving yourself negative xp:

DebugMode 1
givexp -xxxx
resetlevels [will set your level according to xp you have]
DebugMode 0

As far as I know, 'resetlevels' if used with negative XP should make the game 'forget' the skillpoints/feats you have. I guess that if you want to be absolutely sure, you could save, take a look at how much XP your character has, take ALL the XP away and thus reset your character to Lvl 1 automatically. Then level them up again to the point where they were by using the normal givexp cheat command.

I know of one other way that basically replaces your broken character with a new one, but leaves you at the point where you were in the game. Still, no idea if that doesn't mess with the quests you already did, but if you want to give it a try, here's a link. The answers you're looking for are by GhostDog, the last three posts on that page.
