crafting +weapons q. (posible spoiler)

Post by KillboRO »

1.how can i make best weapons? like 1st step is own craft weap, then enchanting to +X and adding cold + fire enchant for example? like 3enchants are max (?)

2.
a)whats best long bow? i think i cant craft composite bows (no molds), but +X are included in game - can i add fire/cold... bonuses to them?
or another choice - make duskwood longbow, then add +X and then add fire/cold....
b)about melee - best is adamantite (+2magical dmg) or em wrong?
c)finaly - can someone make a list with crafting materials for armors? like which is against fire, etc, cuz i am lil lost here and i mean, that making heavy armor (8) from some dragon hides (23) is impossible - i can never reach 30+ rating in craft armor skill, maybe some items/gloves can help, but i didnt find them yet (and i am around 15th lvl)

3.rapier - its medium weapon, but... can i perfectly use feat 2-Weapon fighting? cuz its working with LIGHT off-hand weapon -2/-2 or only -4/-4? cuz weapon finesse is working with LIGHT weaps, but rapier is exception

4. last and funny question, where can i get ROGUE STONEs or some another stones?? is there some uber dealer with them later or is it only about luck and chests??:speech:

1. Your choice. But do not forget, that the special effect of the material (like from darksteel or adamantite) counts as one. So I usually make weapons from cold iron (there are a lot of fey creatures in the game). Also, you should consider making holy weapons, the majority of the enemies are evil aligned, and it does 2d6 damage instead of the d6 of elemental damages. Or traditionally you can go with electricity+cold, it works fine. There are a lot of enemies which are resistant to fire, so I think it is not the wisest choice.
2. The enchantment bonus of the launcher (xbow/bow) only gives to hit bonus. The enchantment of the arrows gives damage bonus. I usually use the bow which has endless supply of fire arrows, since I tend to forget buying arrows. And magic in my opinion is superior in ranged combat. But that's a nice bow, you can buy it from the special trader in Blacklake.
3. As per the 2h fighting feat's description the rapier is penaltized. It's a medium weapon afterall...
4. No dealer, sorry. Also (I only played through 2-3 times) I do not know any guaranteed rouge stones. But I found 3-4 pieces in act III in various chests and high level monster loot.

thx man ;)

1. i mean that i didnt find recipe how to make HOLY weaps  (pls spoiler or in which act i can get it...)
+i didnt know, that using special material is counted like 1enchant, really thx
2.so i dunno - bow has attack bonus (for hit) +mighty power (i was thinking that mighty power is like bonus to attack power on melee weaps....) and u are talking about North wind bow, true? i bought before Elven court bow +3attack bonus/+3mighty ....
and hey, em not using special edition - so i cant get any unique weaps (or em wrong?), so no bows with unlimited ammunition for me :(
3.i was hoping about some exception like with weap finesse feat, nvm still wanna Neeshka with 2x rapiers cuz my focus/critical with them :p
4.holy crap :D time to pray:angel:

Glad to be of service :D

1. For recipes try this link. You may find holy weapons there as well.
2. The "Mighty +X" property of a bow is only a possibility. It means that you may add your strength bonus to the projectile's damage for a maximum of +X. So if you do not have the required strength it is worthless.
For special edition stuff try searching this forum, but if I recall correctly the proper console commands should be "DebugMode 1" then "givefeat 1764" and "givefeat 1765" and "DebugMode 0". Capitalisation matters.
And the merchant in Blacklake is not a special edition merchant I think. So bow for you with unlimited ammo :)
3. Sneak attack is far more superior to any critical hits. Try getting knockdown with your fighter, this way Neeshka will have sneak attack since lying people are considered flatfooted.
4. I'm dead sure you will find some, they are not at all rare.

2 that sux badly, my str is like +0 :(
and i was maybe blind, didnt find any bow with unlimited ammo, time to check it later again
3. now i am not using Khelgar, but trying Shandra with 1short sword + mirror shield like tank, maybe 2weaps later, but Z. cleric girl will be kicked, cuz Khelgar is cooler, with 2hnd greataxe in 1 hand, tower shield higher than him and funny elven armor on dwarf, haha.... np with this and Neeshka, maybe i was expecting bigger efect with 2rapiers :p
4. k, just remembered BG2 and uber room in dock district after u inserted rogue stone, lot of fun inside (maybe lich, beholder, some npc and wizzs with 9lvl spells, hurray!)

2. You may have to have some conversation with him before. I do not remember exactly, but it is about you, and your birthplace, and another fellow. After this he says you can be trusted, so he will show you his special wares.
4. Yeah, that was one of my favourite places in bg2. Since I soloed most of the time, with sorcerers it was always interesting to clean up the place for the staff. And of course since I'm rather impatient in the lowest level possible. Like Kangaxx (but he is really easy if you have +4 weapon and a prot from magic scroll).

Enchanting Bows-PROBLEM

I have a duskwood longbow and I tried enchanting w/ a "to hit" bonus. I'm pretty sure I did everything right since I DID manage to "create" the bow, IOW, all the pieces of the recipe were used up and it gave me an opportunity to "name" it, however, when I checked, the "to hit" bonus was not being applied. I've successfully enchanted other weapons w/ "to hit" bonuses, but w/ bows it's not working. Could this be a bug? Anyone else have this problem? Can you enhance a duskwood bow? Except for the duskwood inherent "mighty" enhancement, it has not yet been enhanced in any other way.

Oh, also, anyone having problems using and selling "pick pocketed" items? I picked up a diamond and it doesn't seem to work to enhance weapons.

I'm not even completely certain on how to enchant a longbow.

With Crafting skills at 8(exception is Craft Trap, which I won't use), craft magic weapons & Armor feat, and a spellcaster that can cast level 4 spells (Summon Creature IV, Acid Fog & Ice Storm selected). I'm at the fourth (as referenced to the walkthru here) of the City Watch quests, if it matters......

Following up on #2, did anyone else notice, at least in 1.03 Enchanting bows takes your ingredents as if it worked, i.e. making a +5 Longbow with Slay Undead?

Are we sure that only arrows are spose to work?
Is this from D&D or a Obsidan/Bioware rule?

As mentioned in this thread many bows have Enchantments, why would we not be able to Enchant?

Isn't this much more likely a bug?

Thanks.
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.

I have no idea what you are asking to be honest. Are you asking if people have noticed whether or not they have experiences with the materials dissapearing with no item being created?
"You can do whatever you want to me."
"Oh, so I can crate you and hide you in the warehouse at the end of Raiders?"
"So funny, kiss me funny boy!" / *Sprays mace* " I know, I know, bad for the ozone"

Appoligies about the confusion. :(

I can Enchant a bow, lose the ingredients, get the pop-up to name my new Enchanted bow, but the Enchantment doesn't show up in the Examine text once completed.

I wonder if anyone else noticed this as it seems to be a bug, more so than previosuly stated in this thread that Enchanting can't be done to bows, iirc.

Or is this possibly some overlooked mistake or ignorant Rule by Obsidian and or Bioware, i.e. you can't dual Morningstars,

I hope this was more clear. :)

Thanks.

I had the same problem. I crafted a Duskwood longbow, tried to enchant to +2. It look like it took because it asked me to rename like a usual successful enchant, but when you look at the properties once taken away from the workbench, there's no enchantment. Dunno if its only for Duskwood as I haven't tried enchanting any other bows.

As far as I know, this is still a known bug, and will hopefully be addressed in the next patch, which will supposedly be out soon. Or maybe the next one after that...apparently they are working on multiple patches as we speak.
