my weapons and armor degrades so fast!

Post by CrimsonSun »

i'm currently level 10, i use light armor, my major skill is light armor and is at 68 at the moment and my weapon skill is blade which is at 53. now everytime i go into a dungeon or anywhere to fight my armor and weapon seems to degrade sooooo fast, 5 minutes into it and my durability seems to drop to around 80 already. is this normal? it doesn't seem normal, its way to fast.

Different types of armour not only differ in the amount of damage they allow to get through to your skin, but also in the amount of "health" the armour itself has (so for example, glass armour not only protects you better than fur, but it lasts longer too). If you wear a mixture of heavy and light pieces and your skill in light armour is much higher than your skill with heavy armour, the heavy armour might actually be tougher but still degrade faster (say LA is 68 & HA is 15, a fur cuirass might last longer then iron greaves). Finally, I apologize if this one is too obvious, but the more the baddies hit you the faster your armor wears out, so blocking or dodging during combat will save some wear and tear as opposed to just standing toe to toe trading hits to see who falls down first.

Not much you can do about weapons wearing out other than carry a backup weapon and some repair hammers with you.

Oh, one more thought. Weapon & armor durability is one of the things that changes with difficulty level. Check your difficulty slider and see if it accidentally got moved to a harder setting.

i see, how about the skill "armourer" does that have anything to do with it or is that only used for repairing?

Armourer skill determines how long you can use a repair hammer before it breaks, and will eventually let you repair magic weapons & armour when it gets high enough. It generally has no effect on how long your weapons and armour last in combat, except that at really high levels you can make them "better than new" so they have 125% "health" when fully repaired.
