I have a Ranger but can not figure out how to activate an animal companion. Any help. How do I get it?

You should be able to drag and drop your Icon from your Feats Menu, (default C) key to your Quick Bar.
Not sure as I play a Wizzy, but I have Summon Familar which should be the same. :)
If not hit the B key (default) for Spells.
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.

You also have to have 4 levels in Ranger to be able to gain an animal companion.
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

You can also right-click-and hold your portrait until the menu pops up, then select Ranger, and Animal Companion. If you get a message that you have used up the Feat, rest first. This also is how you get the druid companion to summon her critter help. One thing I have noticed is that the character performing the summon must be active for the option to appear.

Oh, and I can confirm that you can drag the icon from your feats page to the Quickbar. It works fine.
