Suggested weapon types in OC, SoU, and HotU? (no spoilers... yet; dislcaimer, though)

Disclaimer: If you have any plot-specific items to suggest, PLEASE use the spoiler tag for them.

I just had to ask: Which weapons are - at least by definite/plot-driven drops - suggested for various classes to specialize in? For instance, I'm wondering which classes should get Weapon Focus and Improved Critical feats for what weapons, depending upon class & campaign

I was mostly concerned with what weapons the following classes should specialize in?
- Paladin in Original Campaign, SoU, and HoTU
- Dwarven Defender (let's say its a Fighter/Def) in OC and HoTU
- Barbarian in OC and HoTU
- Rogue in OC and HotU

Well... if you are going through HoTU... I definitely suggest either longsword or Greatsword (there are other blade options in this case but I can't quite recall them). You can lay your hands on a very nifty item early in chapter one for which ability in the above mentioned weapons will come in handy ;)

In chapter 2, if your persuade skill is high enough, it's possible to obtain a rather powerful scythe, so that might be something to bear in mind too. (However, while the quest to obtain it is not entirely evil if viewed in a "for the greater good" perspective, I don't think I could see a paladin type of character doing it)

If you want more specific information let me know, but I kept it vague to avoid spoilers at this stage.

Hmmmm... interesting so far, and I do prefer your method of info so far. :)

However, I'd prefer to emphasize more of the Original Campaign right now.

I'm not certain how much it will help, but it might also be worth checking the GB weapon listing for NWN. I don't think the descriptions are too spoilerish, and you'll get a good sense of what you can expect, even though many of the drops are random.
Also... You will have a certain element of choice in the magical weapons you obtain... But I won't say more than that unless you want me to ;)

Believe me, DW, I check those lists and check them often, MUCH more often than I do my email.

Well, I can say that in the past, I have primarily used greatswords for a paladin in the OC.

As far as a barbarian's concerned, I'm thinking of going with one of these weapons.
- Greatsword. Likely would go with Harbinger King +3 in Chpt. 3. Dunno.
- Greataxe. What satisfactory examples of this weapon are in the OC, I'd love to know.
- Scythe. The damage potential of those things sounds lethal. :speech:
- Halberd. All I can say is "Ravager +4 for the win!!!" for some reason. :o

I just tend to use Magic and blast them. Using Daelan in OC, the Dwarf in SoU (Later Deekin). and not gotten too far in HotU.

I use Swords and Bows for backup.

But what about a Paladin, Fighter, or Barbarian PC? From the sound of it, you're talking about a Wizard, Sorcerer, Bard, or Cleric.

I use swords, with Bows for Backup.

My favourite characters are Arcane MU, true, but I have played a fighter.

One of two swords: Either the Rapier (female char) or the Longsword (Male char) with shield on both.
