spoilers galore

Finding the unicorn is part of the daedric quest for Hircine. The shrine is NW of Bravil. All of the daedric quests are rewarded with unique daedric artifacts. One or two of them aren't that great, but most are good, and a couple are awesome.

As far as side quests with the best rewards, I'm assuming you're not referring to that warm feeling you get from helping the downtrodden ;) My favorite is probably A Brush With Death - ask for rumors in Cheydinhal. Reward is a unique item (though not particularly powerful), but you can also pick up an alchemy ingredient that can't be found anywhere else. Plus the location is totally cool visually.

My second favorite is Go Fish - talk to the farmer at Weye. Reward is a ring of water breathing. Not that big a deal once you're able to enchant your own items, but frequently a life-saver at low level.

A few more side quests where you can pick up sweet swords: The Killing Field (talk to Valus Odiil in Chorrol), Unfriendly Competition (talk to Jensine in the market district, reward is cash but you can pick up a decent sword from one of your fallen enemies), The Ghost Ship of Anvil (talk to the woman on the deck of the Serpent's Wake, moored at the docks in Anvil).

Finally, there are several side quests whose names escape me at the moment where the reward is free skill training. For high-level characters whose rate of advancement is slowing down, that might be even more valuable than magic items.
Can the answer to this question be "No"?
