Ghosts

Post by Erin3 »

I've been playing Oblivion on the Xbox 360 for several days, and I'm really into it. However I'm doing the 'Ultimate Heist,' quest for the Thieves Guild and I've ran into a problem.

There's loads of ghosts and I can't kill them.

Anyone know how to kill ghosts? I'm about to spontaniously combust with frustration. Ususally I just creep past them but I can't on this one.

Living in hope,
Erin

Silver or magical weapons, or spells.
If your sneak is good enough, you can creep past a lot of them.
It helps if you hang onto any staffs you find. Staffs of Lightning are best, imo, but any destructive magic staff is good. Just point and press action/fire button.

Would the fireball spell do it? It's the only one I have and I just sold the staff I nicked. *facepalm*

Any destruction spell except cold-based. They are immune to Cold spells.

When you say Fireball, do you MEAN Fireball? Or is it just Flare? Flare is a pretty weak spell and you'll have to throw a lot of them to have much effect. They only do about 6 damage, iirc. But better than nothing. If you find a nice Lich or Nether Lich, it may very well have a staff you can snaffle after you kill it - and Liches have a Weakness to Fire. :)

When I did that quest myself, I had my specially made enchanted “Gloves of Vision” with me. And when I faced the first ghost of that horde of Liches I saw that it would be an tedious fight I was up against. So I decided not to fight. I was a master of sneak and master of illusion at time. However, I didn’t try sneaking or casting a spell of invisibility. I ran past them. My character back then wasn’t any master of athletics, his skill wasn’t much higher than 25 and acrobatics was at the same level. I put the Boot of Springheel Jak on, and by sprinting and jumping the whole level was “done” in less than one minute.

With my newest character, the way she fights is based on that try in the Ultimate Heist quest. She is fast and furious; she doesn’t wait for the enemies to get right in front of her, she just runs or jumps towards them and slashes with her poisoned steely knives. It has been fun this far.
