Bloody rats...

Post by Woozaii »

Hello, i have been trying to play Torment for a few months a few years ago, and i was doing pretty hot (i thought) untill i keep running into a GIGANTIC group of those bloody brain rats! The first time i experienced it, was when i saw this lonely single brain rat, and The Nameless One thinks: "I gotta stop this one before it mates into 1.000.000, those things breed like rats!", and runs after it. Sadly, it runs around a corner and is lost of sight. When The Nameless One makes it past the corner, he is too late!! The rat has already turned into AT LEAST 30 more damned brain rats, and they cast some sort of crazy-dude spell on him... And he dies. Sure, he reincarnates, but then i am some place that i dont know what is, apparently having done this and that without me knowing it. Well, bottom line is that i would like to know if some of you know a good way of defeating overwhelming hordes of very dangerous brain rats? It would be very very welcome.

I've faced the brain rats repeatedly in playing the game. My solution was simply to have my entire party attack them as swiftly as possible, before they could summon reinforcements. When that didn't work (and it usually didn't), I kept plenty of healing handy. Anyone severely hurt was immediately moved beyond the reach of the rats. I usually succeeded in the end, though I might have had to rezz a party member or two over time.

Well, at this point in the game, i have no healing, no rezz (I am hoping you mean ressurection, right?) and only three party members.

Those are bad odds.

Who are your party members? Perhaps you can cast AoE spells, like Cloudkill (from item), or have your best fighter with largest life pool to stand in front and take the damage. Otherwise, try to run out from area when spell is about to be cast...i think it can be done

I'd suggest getting a couple of levels, and returning later.

Many-As-One is defeatable :) But you'd need to go through like 20 waves of those damn rats. I suggest something to boost your constitution really high and use Tattoo of the Lost Incarnation to increase your regen rate.

The best way for me in defeating those pesky rats was simply by letting Morte being the one to first enter the battle as he had the highest resistances. Also, if I remember correctly Morte's Litany of Curses, would if successful, interupt the rat from spell casting and simply make it going beserk against him instead.
