How to get a higher level

ok, i must be retarted or something but i have been stuck at level 47 and i cant seem to get a higher lvl, i have leveled up all my major skills and most of my minor ones. a friend told me that i need to do the master quest for each skill so i started to do that but i cant train anymore for them and after i do the quest i still dont level. anyone please help me with this problem, Thanks, o and i am playing it on the 360 version.

Actually it is if you'd had tried. Search "Higher Level" in this forum's search function, 4th thread down there's an explanation of it.

Once you've got less than 10 major skill points left you can't advance you level any further. Sounds like you've got 100 points in all majors so you are done leveling. As far as I know the only way to advance to a higher level would be to commit a crime, do the time and hopefully have one of your major skills reduced a point. You would need to do a lot of crimes to get 10 major skill points reduced. Doing the master trainer quests (hardly "quests", more like favors) is pointless and won't do anything to get you to a higher level.

so do your stats or anything go up if i where to get my level as high as posible, after lowering my stats by going to jail and leveling them back up?
