Urgent!! Help with Gameplay! (no spoilers)
Hiya ppl. I need some serious help with this thing on oblivion. Well I just reccently bought the game and installed it yesterday and my computer meets all the requirements and everything, the problem is that when I start the game I have no problems with the main menu but then when I went to create character I noticed something weird, the whole screen is white!!! I'm like what the hell ?!? I don't think it's the video card because I have a decent pc and I just bought a new video card a few months back, it's a Radeon9250. I am not sure that it's the direct X or any of those setting cuz I ran test and they were all successful. I don't know what to do
this totally sucks cuz I was so looking foreward to enjoying this game. I have already tried all the basics and stuff like restarting and installing and reinstalling the game. Also I don't think it has anything to do with my memory cuz I have 15 GB free and Oblivion only requires 1 free GB. The only thing I haven't tried is defragmeting my hard drive and I'm gunna try that tonight. If you guys have ANY advice or you guys think I am wrong about something I welcome it. Like I said I really really wanna play this game cuz I've heard all the hype and I've played a demo. Oh like I said there's nothing wrong with the preformance just with the screen, I've already tried all the possible setting and have spent a couple hours reconfiguring all of that and NOTHING!! Just the same old white completion throughout the whole game. Even tho I can actually play the game, when I get through the door to sewers Oblivion stops running. Please, any computer games expert out there that can help a fellow gamer out????

Firstly - please use some spaces and paragraphs. It makes it much (much) easier to figure out what you askDarth Jayder wrote: Hiya ppl. I need some serious help with this thing on oblivion. Then: Memory (RAM) has nothing to do with harddrive space, so when you don't mention how much memory you have then that could be an issue.
You should really include your machine spec in a post such as this.
I don't know the specs of of your graphic card, but I would say that it sounds as the culprit, having difficulties loading the areas when you exit the sewer, and as you say - it isn't listed as supported on the box. (well, my box anyway).
So if you have the possibility, I'd advice you to see if you can borrow a (good/decen) graphic card from a friend, and then try that one in your machine to see if you can play which would then indicate it is the card. However, it could also be the memory or so many other things. But withouth much more information it is difficult to advice you.

The 9250 is not supported by the game and its a very old card. I presume by using one this means you have an AGP Slot which isn't really ideal for upgrading as it's a dead/dying form.
I think the Geforce 6800/6600 GT came out as a AGP card so look for it. Shouldn't be too much.
If you do have a PCI-Express slot, then go buy a Geforce 7600GS/GT or an ATi x1600 XT. They'll run the game fine and will last a couple of years.
In the meantime however, try Oldblivion (Oldblivion. It's a mod which converts everything to older textures to something which your current 9250 can handle. It's not perfect, but will allow you to start playing.
Fixed link, above. You left the close parens in, and it wasn't working. --Fable

I bought a new machine just so I could play Oblivion, since this old one is way past it's sell-by date (and has also been so buggered by viruses/worms that even a complete reformat, twice, didn't get rid of all the damage).
It is well worth investing in a new machine. I'm a Pensioner, on a very basic pension, so it was not easy to afford - I had to give up several little luxuries, like buying books and food
- but I'm glad I did! I'm thinner, too!

I had a Radeon 9200, on my machine, and though the game was nominally running, I couldn't even get an image when I was trying to create my character.
I upgraded to a Radeon 9600 Pro for less than 30 quid on eBay, and added another 512Mb of RAM to bring the total to 1,268Mb - the game runs like a dream, and that's with an old Athlon 2000 processor on board.
The only time it slows down is when I'm in the Waterfront District, for some reason.
