Cania - the Five mysteries

I am in Cania, and trying to find the five mysteries to wake up the Sleeping Man. It says that the Scrivener and Aribeth will tell them to me; however, I finished the quest with them before getting the Mystery one. Now the scrivener has disappeared and Aribeth only talks about whether I want her to join me. I can't guess on the questions, either. Is there any way, short of killing the sensei, to progress?

You should be able to have Aribeth join you only for a little while - say, for how long it takes to get the answer to the mystery from her. Then just leave her again if you don't want to take her with you.

And it turns out that the Reaper, and any random quarry worker, can answer me, so problem solved.
