CD Recognition problems.

Post by acien_246 »

Howdy,

This is my first post and I'm sure I'm going to be shunned for posting in the wrong section... but I don't really expect to be a member of this forum, I just need help and I didn't know exactly where else to turn.

I recently purchased a copy of Vampire: Masquerade Redemption. I loved it years ago, and gave it to a friend over time, lost contact with it.

I bought it back to my place and when I put the cd in, there was no autorun install. When I opened my computer and tried to open the cd drive manually it said "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."

I tried putting in some other cds and similar things happened... the message didn't come up for every one, but whenever I tried to explore the CD it would bring me to the desktop. Also a common theme is that there were square characters in a lot of the cd names which shouldn't be there. Like (square)ampire kind of thing...

Any ideas?

Well, if you already know this is the wrong section to post in, then I wonder why you still did it. Especially considering we have a listing for Vampire: TM - Redemption in the forum view which would take just a second or two of scrolling to find. The least you could do would be to look at the listing first, which you clearly didn't do.

I'm moving this topic to the proper place, but please take 2 seconds to actually look before pressing new thread, it will help not only you getting answer, but other people perhaps needing the same answers.

I realize that I am new but I don't exactly find the way you were speaking to me warranted.

I didn't put the thread in the Redemption section because it's not a problem specific to Vampire: Masquerade Redemption, it just so happens that when I stumbled across this problem, that's the game that I was trying to install.

So since it's more of a general support question I put it in the general section.

Then you would also have noted the description:
If you'd like to comment on any of the announcements or if there is something you want added, altered, or removed from GameBanshee or these forums, this is where you'd post it.
on the forum you posted in.

I'll move this down to Tech support, if you say this problem is not related to V:TM Redemption but a general issue.

I'm sorry if you were offended by the way of my posting, but it is common curtesy to look over a forum before posting, to find the most appropiate place to post. And you even acknowledge in your opening line that you well know this fact, yet disregard it because you don't really expect to be a member of this forum.

Topic moved to the Tech Support.

I don't expect to be a member, but I still intend to respect your rules as much as possible. I had looked over the topics, and I saw the Vampire section, but decided it would be best to put this in a general forum.
I read that description you copied and pasted, but I also understood that it was a "Discussion" section, so I was hoping my inquirery was still welcome.

In all honesty though, I seem to have overlooked the tech support section. Thank you for moving it there, it's where I should have placed it from the start.
