Woo Hoo! Ranting! Wheeeeee!

Post by Hill-Shatar »

Oh yes, I'm popping back online once again (thread limit? Never saw this 'un coming so soon) to rant about something else. More of a "if you have the time thing" than anything.

Folks, I remember doing this when I was a member, so go out, speak to new members, show them the breadth of the site, talk to them, and make them stay around. Just the ones that stay around and answer questions of course, 'cause they're the special ones we all love.

Whee, random posting and running! *ends Drive-by Hilling*

This has been a bri -- paid advertisement by the newly formed "Spank me!" advertising group. Thank you.

Since you've been gone so long, can I qualify you as a new member?

It'd be much more fun to fill your pm box with things saying 'SPAM'. :D

ehm hill1 has been gone long? :speech: :speech: :speech:

now what does that make me??

I'm seriously doubting i'm in some goddamn truman show, i mean i do decisions that may not always be what i want to do but what i feel is best and it's trying to be possibly implemented into my life almost by force, i mean what the removed is that?

and i'm a bit confused and annoyed atm, but i'm not really angry tho..

@CE:you prolly don't remember those couple serious discussions we had ages ago, but you were right.. and no i don't wish to elaborate on the issue..

Locke, I think I do remember...it was long ago, but IIRC I am very sad i was right and no need to elaborate...life goes on.

That depends. Since you're so young can I respond to you in a condescending and slow manner?

Hmm, hope that discussion CE and Locke are having has nothing to do with my post, but I've not gone crazy, I'm recommending that, if you see a member outside this forum that is pretty active and answering questions, you talk to them and make them stay around to continue asking questions and join other facets of the site.

@ Masa: I've been crazy for a good long time, but for some reason, when I stopped moderating here, my sanity came back. :)

I figure it is just the WoW-language shining through ... at least you type in full sentences and not pure abbriviations :D

*sits down cross-legged infront of Hill with a dazed look on my face*

Tell us another story Hilly, pwease.

Or wait, do I get to take the typical teenager path and storm out, saying you don't trust me, slam the door and blare music?

My God, this is officially the most purposeful thread I've seen here in a long time... ;)
"Be thankful you're healthy."
"Be bitter you're not going to stay that way."
"Be glad you're even alive."
"Be furious you're going to die."
"Things could be much worse."
"They could be one hell of a lot better."

ah that one demands ALOT of concentration, otherwise i'd just use stuff like:"u" "1" "tbh" "wth"... I was so certain when i bought the game that i'd never turn into one of those people who use stuff like that and call others "noobs".. well i've more or less been able to not call people "noobs" except within guild members who know i do not mean it to be insultive in any way..

and you have no idea how much concentration it required to write this all without abbrevs..

rly hard i tell u :o

@Tony: Shhh! The crazy man is going to say another story. :D

@Locke: I'm just happy you haven't used the word 'own', or any of its similar (mis?)spellings. I hate that word with a passion!

oh you mean pwned, owned, pwns, owns.. yeah i hate it aswell.. but i got a new favourite hate word in the game that the kids seem to use repeatedly(luckily most guild members are adults)

Care.. i mean that is so insultive and represents everything i hate about some players in WoW.. an example..

"can anyone come to help me, my alt is being corpse camped by lvl60 shaman"->"care"

that's when i'm glad that if i write /gkick <person's name> nothing happens anymore..

and the problem with that word's usage is that you can really just use it on everything anyone says..

kinda like you can say:"but why" to every answer someone gives..

Well, having played DAOC for the better part of 3 years, EVE-Online for about a year and WOW for little over a year (stopped now)...... so I know full well the dangers it pose to writing skill and language :D
Luckily - I type pretty fast, so I can often type out full sentences where others make their abbriviations, but when playing thoese games, even I fall to the abbriviation "hell" :D

Heh, that's when you go over to the shaman and help him out. :D

I never worked in those games anyway, as I'd always avoid seduction of the abbreviations. I'd constantly get into fights with people, then just nitpick everything they said:
'Your an idiot'
'It's spelt you're'
'Wat a nerd'
'It's spelt what'
'Sori I don't care about speling'
'It's spelt sorry and spelling'

That will go on until the person leaves.
