Fable

Post by Azeroth »

I don' mean to make you mad by asking this Fable, but are you male or female? I cant tell by your posts, but I assumed you were female because what you say is so intelligent. I hope you don't take offence to this but, if you do you have my most sincere apologies.

Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

No, I'm not insulted by your inquiry, but I am slightly annoyed at your general insult to the intelligence of my sex. Which is, if you haven't guessed already, male.

At any rate, it was the last time I checked.

Yep. Male. :)

I didn't mean to insult your sex and I'm sorry if I did. I am a guy too so I didn't really mean to insult you.

No, it was just that you remarked I seemed to be female, since my comments were intelligent. From everything that I can tell, men and women are pretty equal in that respect just about everywhere, except, of course, in New Jersey.

In the real world yes, men and women are equally intelligent, but on the SYM forum, well...ummm lets just leave it at that.

LOL! Well, the erudition of CE, or Minerva, or T'lainya, or our recently arrived Sailor Saturn, is hard to equal. But I think that was just the roll of the dice. :D

Are you insinuating that men and women in NJ are not equally intelligent? Now you have offended me my dear Fable.

@Azeroth, you live in the trees, and unless I'm much mistaken, they are universal. If you are unfortunate enough to be living in an oak somewhere around Trenton, New Jersey, you can always move to a nice palm in Hawaii, or perhaps a pine overlooking the Norwegian fjords. So why this concern for New Jersey? :)

There are trees in NJ? I never knew that. I always thought NJ was just a sea of petrochemical plants.I was just kidding about being offended by your comment. I have family in NJ and I just found it funny that you said that. :D

@Fable and Azeroth: Actually, in Sweden, women are a little bit (not statistically significant) intelligent than men according to IQ measures.

Now, everybody who's familiar with the old IQ-concept knows that it's basically f-ed up, and we professionals don't regard it as a measure of what is usually refered to as intelligence, but a measure of other factors, mainly educational level and culture. There's also a heavy age bias built into the system, since you divide the test result with age, it's very easy for a young person to score high, whereas your score as an adult is decreasing year by year. So, the IQ-concept has been abandoned by boht clincians and researcher, instead, we use other concepts.

The single most important factor that correlated with the traditional IQ-measure, is education. And women in Sweden are slightly more well educated than men at group level. Thus, the results above.

Btw, have you read "The bell curve"?

I had Fable as male from the start, I don't know why. Probably just because a vast majority of the members are male, and the female users often indicate their gender by choosing female names (ie Minerva, T'laynia, Chrissy, C Elegantia... ;) ).

I don't base intelligence on the amount of education someone has had. There are some very intelligent people in this world but they may not have had a proper education. However those who are well educated such as Fable and yourself are very intelligent as well. An example of each: Abe Lincoln never had a formal education, at least to my knowledge, but he was a very intelligent person. Then there is George Bush, who has gone to Yale, yet he still seems lacking in some areas, if you get my drift.

@Fable Why do you assume that I live in the trees? Hmmm, I think I'm going to take this personally. :(

It says so in the bottom of your post. Right next to your post number. ;)
