I hate this f*cking game
I hate this f*cking game
I was perusing the net (as I’m prone to do) the other day and noticed a rom for the old NES game Ninja Gaiden. I always disliked the game, despite the fact that it had great game play (for it’s time) and couldn’t recall why. So I downloaded the rom and picked up where I left off twelve years earlier. It didn’t take me long to remember why I loathed this game so much. After getting my ass kicked for the eightieth time by Ryu’s father I was bombarded with memories of beating my Nintendo, hurling the controller, and coming up with inventive new swear words. I hate this boss with a magnificent rage unequaled on earth or hell. And I'm too damned stubborn to admit defeat, so I keep masochistically playing this freaking game again and again. I'll get that f*cker one of these days. Then I'll never have to play the damn game again.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

I know what you mean. I have a game for NES called The Adventures of Bayou Billy and I have never beat it. I have tried numerous times, but the boss at the end seems to be some sort of super boss that kicks my ass no matter what. Keep trying you will get it eventually. (I just said that to make you feel better)

Kayless, the key for Ninja Gaiden 1 is to have the secret weapon jump and slash for the boss.....You can just kill the boss with only one blow !
Actually I have finished the whole Ninja Gaiden trilogy and the hardest is Ninja Gaiden 3 : The Ancient Ship of Doom - The game kinda makes you get too little time

@Aegis, You should see me after I lose a Diablo 2 hardcore character to lag. Not a pretty site.
@Azeroth, I remember Bayou Billy. I didn't play it all that much (I didn't own the cartidge, a friend did) but it was fun. I was more of a Double Dragon and Castlevania kinda guy (don't get me started on that damn Igor though).
@KidD01, I'm on the Masked Devil/Ken Hayabusa. Where you have to hit this damned orb that's controling him while he runs around and whacks you with these glowing energy balls. Haven't made it to Jaquio yet but it's only a matter of time.

Actually if you don't have the jump and slash ninjitsu you gonna have a real hard work on your scaling wall technique. You need to cling real high on the wall to escape the Masked Devil and then jump across to slash the damn orb. A side note : Beware - Jaquio is one tough baddie and he's not the final boss ! (I don't want to spoil the whole story but if you want just tell me to write the whole thing)Originally posted by Kayless:

@Kayless: Hehe....frustrating NES games....I've had a few experiences with them....
I can still remember the joy after beating Mike Tyson and completing Mike Tyson's Punch Out....now that was one rock-hard game....
Has anyone ever played a game called "Tiger Heli" for the NES....I had it on an running for 50 hours.....(no save available)....without completing it....later on I found out that it was actually impossible to complete as the game just started from the beginning after you bombed your way through the "supposedly" last level....that really pissed me off....still does when I think about it....
Just hang in there Kayless and you'll make it....one of theese days you will....

@KidD01, I've been using NESTICLE. Thank you for your sagely advice which has allowed me to become a Ninja Master. I'm almost sorry it's over. I'll never forget Ninja Gaiden...
The action
The drama
The tragedy
The romance
It's been a terrific ride, despite all of the anger and frustration. I've learned the true meaning of life, love, and Ninjitsu. *Sniff* Goodbye Ninja Gaiden.
THE END
(Until I decide to take on the sequel, that is)

Well, that was a bit of a disappointment! After all the aggravation involved with beating the original Ninja Gaiden the sequel was exceedingly easy by comparison! The new gameplay features (like being able to climb vertically up walls rather then leaping back and forth to scale buildings) made things go much more smoothly. I’m a little disenchanted since I’ve had so little trouble beating it. Of course after coming down from the insanely hard original less difficulty is not exactly a bad thing. Oh well. Perhaps the Ninja Gaiden 3 will liven things up.
