Soul Gems????? SPOILER

Hey fellow members but i was wondering what in the world are soul gems used for?? I get the general idea they trap souls but hiw do you do it. I can summon scamps and skelatons but how do you fill soul gems up??

Do i need a spell or a scroll to do such a process??

General on soul gems:To do this you have to have a soul trap spell or a soultrap enchanted wepon. hit the monster with the soul trapping wepon/cast the spell on the monster and kill them before the time runs out on the spell. Alternativly you can lower their life down then cast soul trap on them.

Every monster has a soul levle that corisponds to a gem size: petty,lesser,comon,greater,or grand You can put a small size soul in a larger size gem EX:lesser soul in a comon gem but your better off getting the same size soul in the gem as this doesnt waste gems.

To tell what size soul a monster has you have to guess but its not too hard.
rats,wolves,deer,goblins,ect. are petty sized
scamps,timber wolves, trolls, zombies, ect. are lesser
Minotaurs, clanfears, flame astronachs, black bears, ect. are comon
brown bears, deadroth, any other astronach, ect. are greater
liches,xivilai,minotaur and goblin lords,ect. are grand

a trapped soul will automactly go to the closest sized gem that it will fit in, so if your going to go soul-hunting make sure you have one of every type of empty soul gem with you.

to use a soul gem just click on it and if you have any enchanted wepons a window will pop up showing charges on the wepon(s) and charge size in the gem.

A note on azura's star: this counts as a grand soul gem and just doesnt dissapear when you use the charge inside.

You need Black soul gems to soul-trap humanoids of any kind.
