Triggered by Kingslakes post about gaining hitpoints, I've decided to start investigating the casting cost for spells.
As most of you know, the cost for a particular spell goes down as you increase in skill in the associated magic school. The question however is how much?
See post below.

Spell casting cost
Hello,
Instead of doing more experiments myelf, I found a wiki that lists the formulas I was looking for. Here is the link.
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Spell_Making
Short summary:
Casting cost = Base cost * (1.4 - (skill * 0.012))
A note on the skill, apparantly luck modifies the skill before being used in the above calculation. But the skill is still capped to 100.
The formula for luck is:
Modified skill = Base skill + (0,4 * (Luck - 50))
So the maximum skill modifier for max luck is +20.
So using these formulas you can calculate if and at what level/cost you will be able to cast those expensive spells!
All the credit goes to the wiki contributors of course.
