I cannot reinstall Oblivion please help!

Post by Maximus38 »

My computer crashed last week and I was forced to reinstall Windows XP. I have since tried to reinstall Oblivion, but the installation only goes so far before coming up with an error message:

File: D:\data3.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Can anyone help?

Yeah, had that problem. I had to use a thing called "DVD Decryptor" where it just forces all the stuff off of the CD onto your Computer. Then you can install it.

it should be in a folder known as a .rar file or something similar.

Next step is to download WinRAR and extract all the file to a memorable folder. (WinRAR won't take as long to setup as Decryptor did), then just click "setup" and it should start automatically. You'll still need the disc to play it, but otherwise, there shouldn't be anymore problems in installing the game.

Well, hopefully it works for you. Like I said, I had the exact same problem, and that's how I fixed it, so it should prove useful to you too.
