I hear that.
These words, melt in my mouth
They hot, like the jail cell in the South
Before my brotha bailed me out
To get by.. just to get by
Just to get by, just to get by
We do or die like Bed-Stuy through the red sky
with the window of the red eye
Let the lead fly, some G. Rap ****, "Livin' to Let Die"

[Background singers]
This morning, I woke up
Feeling brand new I jumped up
Feeling my highs, and my lows
In my soul, and my goals
Just to stop smokin, and stop drinkin
And I've been thinkin - I got my reasons
Just to get (by), just to get (by)
Just to get (by), just to get (by)!
la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!

Do all "gangsta's" dress like your avatar in Canada?
"You can do whatever you want to me."
"Oh, so I can crate you and hide you in the warehouse at the end of Raiders?"
"So funny, kiss me funny boy!" / *Sprays mace* " I know, I know, bad for the ozone"

Only in Wayne County.

Whatever happened to that game you were thinking of starting? Or am I a bit early in my wondering?

Vastly early. Not even counting the ridiculous amount of preparation I want to have, I had to put the whole thing on hold for exams and assignments... and then I actually forgot about it until a few days ago. But now I'm done school for the summer, so I imagine I'll start hammering away at it again.

As an example of my ridiculous preparation, my first tiny little farming thorpe has something like 75 NPCs that I intend to name and apply brief stats to, let alone personalities and descriptions.

Heh, sorry then. Just curious. I'd rather wait and have a good campaign. Besides, I think I'm running two and playing in two more starting next week. Work work work....

Yeah, I started making a new campaign with a whole new campaign world. I reduced new races to stats necessary for character creation. I am working on concepts for new classes, none done yet. I have to make cultures for each area of the world, along with prominent NPC's for the cultures to be based around. THEN...THEN get to the groundwork with PC's will run into at the start of the game. It's a lot of work.

BUT, having my own game world with tons of custom content will provide a new stuff to use. :D

No apology needed. It's probably my fault for mentioning it prematurely.

As for cultures, I tend to just base mine off of real-world ones, and twist them for aesthetic purposes... or twist them because I refuse to do legitimate research.

I like playing with the system aesthetics too. I'm considering making the sorceror class based on geneology- as in I might have it that sorcerors are descended distantly from any number of magical or supernatural creatures, and depending on the ancestry, certain spells become easier to cast while others become inaccessible. I suppose it's sort of like wizard specialisation for sorcerors.

That said, I'm also considering changing the entire magic system to the one in Wheel of Time. It's pretty neat too.

Hmm, I'd be willing to try either. I've been wanting to attempt to try the system presented for casters in WoT. Do you have the book for that system they've made then?

I've been wanting to alter things to a new spellcasting system myself. I may try it with the NPC's in my new game. I'll be able to fully control things and see how it works, so if it is too powerful, I'm the DM and can just do whatever I need to in order to make it somewhat balanced in game. Then tinker with it after a session and try to make it work properly.

I have got the book, yes. As for entirely new magic systems, my friend read a novel with probability magic or something like that, where the caster simply had to calculate the odds of something happening, and then will it into existence somehow or another. I imagine it's something like the probability drive from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I immediately said no because most of his ideas are utterly retarded, but I thought about it again recently and figured a way it might work. It basically comes down to higher level "spells" having lower odds, but your class level giving you bonuses to those odds. Which suddenly strikes me as very similar to wild magic in AD&D.

Hmm, yeah, sounds just like 2nd edition wild magic. I haven't actually bothered to read the stuff on 3.5 edition wild magic. I wasn't much interested in. Too much of wanting things my way I think. Ya know...I have a forum specifically for talk like this. Not to mention there being one on this very site as well. :o

Well, if I'm directing, let's do some shameless self-promoting!

There, I think Syberis made it so you need to be a member to post outside of the "Off-topic" section so bots can't use our site to post nonsense and adverts though. Not sure though.

Actually, I'm going to go shower now. Hurray for hygiene! Then I might get to working on my game... or maybe read up on food specs for my new jorb. Also, do you have MSN Messenger? I imagine that'd be a handy way to communicate/plot against the smurfs.
