Is it a language

Post by Mr Sleep »

Why is that in Baldurs Gate (et al) are the mages voices all exactly the same.

It quite annoied me that there is no difference in one specllcaster to anothers nuances of speech.

I then surmised that they are specking a language, the language of magic if you like.

Is there any basis to beleive this might be the case?

I mean does the spell that one articulates effect the spell and is the power of the spell etc dictated by how one speaks it.

If one reads some of David Eddings work the magic in those books is refered to as stiryicism and is a language that has to be spoken correctly.

Isn't anyone else slightly confused as to why all the people have the exact same casting voice in the BG series?

@Sleep: Nobody cares. I'm sorry for being straight forward, that, or maybe the women in Faerun sound the same as the men in Faerun.

Not so, O Thorin. Bioware didn't want to take up a lot of code with dozens of voices reciting the same spells. Bloats the program, adds very little fun or reality to the result. ;)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
