OK, found a sprig of nirnroot. Also noticed on your stat screen that nirnroot found is one of the listings. I'm guessing this is important, but any idea why?

There is a quest related to it in skingrad.

You need to talk to take it to an alchemists, who will then refer you to a nirnroot specialist in skingrad.

I believe you should have a quest active now - seeking your roots or something similar. Just talk to any alchemist about it, he/she will point you in the right direction.
