Armor effects on magic?

Post by Orlanth »

Hi-
How much does wearing armor affect using magic in the game, and is it a lot less for light armor? I am starting out and wanted to know if I'm going to use magic is it worth taking either of these skills - also, anyone know if getting to the higher armor skills reduces their magic penalty as well as encumbrance? Thanks for any replies.

Armor effects the duration and strength of spells, not the ability to cast them. It's a subtle thing--you're not told that your spell took 6 points off somebody's health instead of 7. But the effectiveness I've seen of all spells, even with heavy armor, appears no less than 78%. With light armor, at the start of the game, it was 89% for me.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
