I think I'd like this man. He has obviously tried to fight it. It sounds as if they will back off if you show signs of going to court and that probably means they know they will lose and will have to stop this. Makes it all the worse

It occurs to me it may be no coincidence that they are bullying people in this way. It is likely to alienate at least some support for the fee system and a lot of vested interests are keen on doing that

@ DJV. From what Rav says it doesn't seem likely they are going to lose interest in this

I think it was avoided as he went to the CAB and they worked out something, but he didn't tell the TV licensing people that he didn't have a TV and they never asked.
Apparently he was more than happy to go to court though. :p

It might help if you contact them rather than getting into the spiral that I've been describing...

Like I said, I'm stubborn. I have not done anything wrong and I don't recognise any right they think they have to harrass me. It might be easier but it would not be right to legitimise that crap. I will not do it till I have to. :)

Meh. I'd save the hassle by trying to nip it in the bud. But's it your choice. :p

Yeah, I've seen it a couple of times before, though I don't see anywhere as much TV as I used to. I preferred The Fast Show and Trigger Happy TV. Oh, Swag was good too. I suppose I'll have to find you websites for these. :p

No idea what that first one is, but I've heard of the second one.

Ahhh, you don't know what you are missing out on, it's pretty funny.

It was a great sketch show, but it finished quite a few years ago now.

Oh, I do, I've seen it remember? :p
Not as good as the old stuff. ;)

Oh, I just remembered another great Pommy sketch show...

The Sketch Show. Now that was hillarious, have you seen that?

That, Ravager, is why we are sleepwalking into a right wing nightmare. It is all your fault

Thank you, Fiona. :p
Some of us have better things to do with our time than get into tugs-of-war with the authorities over easily avoided issues. ;)

@DJV, something for Swag http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainmen ... 225392.stm (the website for the programme itself is down :( ).

I think I've heard of that show, but I haven't watched it. Is it the one where they mock everyone's favourite Aussie wildlife presenter? :D
Other comedy programmes I like include Father Ted and Scrubs. Just trying to think of others....

Where's your sense of adventure Rav :p .

Good on that guy, Snatch was a great movie. :D

Um... maybe, not really though, basically it's just 5 people, doing a bunch of sketches, swapping around who does what etc.

It would have to be the funniest of all sketch shows that I have seen.

Uh, gone? *shrugs* :p

The programme is very good too. Say someone leaves a car unlocked on purpose and someone gets in to drive it off and the car locks up tight and talks to the person inside getting him/her to say they're sorry or something.

Or they could leave a bag on the ground, someone goes to pick up and some medieval singers come along and start singing "She's taken the bag, how bad is she..." and follow her around...

I looked up The Sketch Show, I don't think I have seen it, I was getting it confused with another programme...

Yeah, I think I remember other shows doing that... just not that extreme  .

Me too.

Yep, it can be hilarious...
They also get a celebrity in to try and persuade a member of the public to get away with something, see what someone will do for the famous. :p
They leave the back of lorries open, someone jumps inside to steal something, they close the doors and lower the sides of the lorry so the person can see out and others can see in but the person can't get out.
They even took a person to a mock court in one of those lorries... :D

Oh, next up is comedy quizzes... heard of Shooting Stars?

Nope.

To my knowledge, we don't get any English quiz shows.

And that's about all the English shows I can think of at the moment...

Well, this seems to be a good description of it http://www.ukgameshows.com/index.php/Shooting_Stars

And another, though not as good quiz, 8 out of 10 Cats http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/t ... tof10cats/

So is every episode simply that over and over again?

Basically it's the same format every time, yeah, but with random comedy in there...

Right, I'd better check my nation on WoC to make sure it's still there... :p
The person I had an agreement with, that I wouldn't attack them and vice versa, not only took a load of my land but deliberately weakened what I had left.
Time for some revenge I think.

Ahh, sounds a tad weird. I guess the whole joke is in seeing it, rather than reading a transcript.
