Kipi. I have listened to the sample of Sonata Antartica (sp) you provided. No offence but they sound quite "poppy" to me. I could listen to it,and the lyrics may well be interesting if you hear whole songs. And I could see it might be good live, as the beat would generate some excitement if played loud in a big venue. But the music seems quite simple to me. And I wouldn't have called it metal. It isn't bad, just not my kind of thing, I think. Sorry :)

No offense taken. :)
And you are someway. Also, there aren't demos from their best songs, and those which are there are kinda poppy, especially Don't Say A Word.

And that's the exact reason why not so many likes their music *sight*

Bands never put their best stuff in demo's it seems.Trying to get the widest possible audience maybe, so they put up the blander stuff.

BTW 70f is about 20 celsius, I think

Yeah, noticed that too. The only exceptions are bands that have so small audience that they are forced to put demos of better songs on net...

We've been lucky this winter. It's about 9 here today, which is OK. I don't like it too hot or too cold. I am not keen on rain (we get a lot) but it has been quite dry this year, too. All in all our winters seem to be improving lately. Summer's still quite rubbish though.

The radio link I put up about two pages back is playing some stuff I quite like if you're interested. But this is all new musicians on an open stage competition so they're not top flight. Nice to hear new talent though

Oh but they are playing the Peatbog Faeries now and they are more established

http://www.celticmusicradio.org.uk/index.php

I put it in again cos they'll only play one track I think

Followed by Grada. I heard them last night. I like the singing style of gaelic music too, light voices. Singer does mouth music and sings in Irish as well as english.

*looks embarrrased* Sorry - too much information. I'll stop :)

Okay, took the link, going to listen later when more time...

Oh, and one thing about Sonata Arctica still: If you find a time and interest, download the video of "Wolf & Raven" from same site, from videos under the Misc -button...
It gives IMO quite good picture of their fast songs, adn there you can hear it as a whole...

@ dear fiona, sorry to argue but....sonata arctica are not poppy :D in favt the real name of their genre is "neo-classical power metal"
they fuse together old and modern techniques in their songs with amazing guitar solo's.

Not arguing, Mellez. I haven't heard enough to argue. Just my view of the links Kipi gave me. It's allowed :)

As to guitar solo's. I like this. It isn't guitar as percussion and it isn't exciting, but it is beautiful music beautifully played. The samples are very short, though :(

I like this too, though he does use the guitar as a percussion instrument a lot

From that list Wolf & Raven, of course :D :D
But from all of their songs... Tallulah.

Oh, and I'm going now, my bus back is leaving in hour... :(

So, cya everybody!!!
Tallulah -- Sonata Arctica

Remember when we used to look how sun set far away?
And how you said: "this is never over"
I believed your every word and I quess you did too
But now you're saying : "hey, let's think this over"

You take My hand and pull me next to you, so close to you
I have a feeling you don't have the words
I found one for you, kiss your cheek, say bye, and walk away
Don't look back cause I am crying

I remember little things, you hardly ever do
Tell me why.
I don't know why it's over
I remember shooting stars, the walk we took that night
I hope your wish came true, mine betrayed me

You let my hand go, and you fake a smile for me
I have a feeling you don't know what to do
I look deep in your eyes, hesitate a while...
Why are you crying?

Tallulah, It's easier to live alone than fear the time it's over
Tallulah, find the words and talk to me ,oh, Tallulah,
This could be... heaven

I see you walking hand in hand with long-haired drummer of the band
In love with her or so it seems, he's dancing with my beauty queen
Don't even dare to say you hi, still swallowing the goodbye
But I know the feelings still alive- still alive

Solo

I lost my patience once, so do you punish me now
I'll always love you, no matter what you do
I'll win you back for me if you give me a chance
But there is one thing you must understand

Chorus
"As we all know, holy men were born during Christmas...
Like mr. Holopainen over there!"
- Marco Hietala, the bass player of Nightwish

Eh, weekends here tend to suck. Might have something to do with the presence of alcohol in the world...

Spoiler
YOU GUESS! Why you insolent little excuse for a hair ball, I oughta rip you limb from limb, however as a goat, I am rather ill equipped to rip you limb from limb, so instead Ill send a flying goat hoove right to the jewels, and then proceed to eat everything in sight, be it a certain some ones clothes, or a cheese quesadilla
