best ally to have as a sith apprentice?

Post by mr_sir »

possible spoilers (sorry forgot to put it in the title and can't figure out how to change the title):

i've decided to play through again as ds as the last time i did this i was still getting my head around the game. i want to do it so i only make one of my allies into a jedi and have them as my sith apprentice but can't decide which. i know atton would be the easiest but i don't want to use him as i used him a lot in my first game. any suggestions about which character would be the best overall (both in terms of gameplay and allowing me to get away with evil stuff) to take on as an apprentice?

Well, you cannot really have both. Your encounters affect people, so the only ones who enjoy dark stuff are HK, GO, Mandalore. But they are not the best to travel with in my opinion. Handmadien & Bau are the 2 I preferr.

One thing I noticed is you can enter 'solo' mode before you approach a decision scene (such as the stuck mandalore). I had Handmaiden & Bau with me, went solo & blew him up for dark points. Went back to a save & tried it without the solo mode. Lost influence with handmaiden. So you can get ds points, but will not gain / lose influence.

Best I can say is get them to be a jedi, then don't care what they think.
Hope this helps

Another fav is Mira, especially if you get her early. Wait until you jedify her then level her up. I gave her my 2 best guns & left her in ranged combat mode. Boy, with her dexterity, she can cause some damage with a pistol. Stack her with the blaster finess, blaster expert levels & she pops 'em for 30 points right off the bat.

Usually put Handmaiden in stationary mode. If you put her in aggressive, she tries to take on the world & spends alot of time on the mat.

HK is another that suprised me. Good with a rifle, I give him a modified repeater for more hits per round. His dialect is also an amusing diversion to partake ("I am humbled by your skill at killing meatbags master...." or something like that is one of the lines that gave me a chuckle)

Mandalore??? Leave him on the ship to do the vacuuming with GO-TO. Both have no real skills that I did not posess in my character.

T3 was good in the begining for his high demo, computer, security skills. But the game seems to have a level that it tops at on these (I left security & demo at 10 & was able to hack / disarm anything). Com skills help in breaking items down, so that & repair I continued to add points to.

Bau was another good one when jedified. Otherwise, like T3, good in the begining. Left him as jedi support

Keria & Visa?? Both good for jedi support, although Keria casts spells & they effect you as well (bonus for her). Otherwise left them.

Atton after jedification was pretty good. Another stationary mode fighter. But good for him, when he goes down & is not the last of the party, he gets back up! So not bad in a fight (Unlike all the others who play possum until the fights over)

i have used all the characters at one point or another in the previous games, just this time i want to use only one (and it has to be one i can make a jedi as i want them to be my apprentice) all through the game where possible, and then kreia or hk as a third if i feel like it. i've gone for handmaiden. i like mira but considering i am ds enough to get the visas cutscene half way through telos there is no way i will get her. just finished dantooine now (my first planet) and pretty much maxed out handmaiden already as far as influence goes. just need the final fight with her and she will be pretty much a dark jedi with dark mastery. she definately works well as she only occasionally seems to complain and then i found if i suspected she would i just went solo for 5 mins til i had done what i wanted to do then get her back in my party again (only had to do it once). my character can kill most things easily so i just let her run in and beat people up as i know i can take care of her enough for her to hardly take a scratch (i was level 16 before i even got halfway through the ruins and had my lightsaber long before that point (i just went in and got the part i needed and then went and did all the other side quests before finishing the ruins). in fact its the earliest i have ever got a lightsaber (halfway through the first planet). so all in all, handmaiden is working out great.

Handmaiden should work good for your dark apprentice. If that is your angle, then definately think Visa. 1 she is already dark.... 2 she can hang in a fight.... 3 she has her own lightsaber.... 4 I always liked a girl with mysterious eyes (in this case, the mystery is where they went) :)

visas would be good and i used her a lot in my first ds game as well as atton, but this time i wanted it to be one i made a jedi not a pre-made jedi. i know it sounds stupid being so picky but its just how i decided to play it - that way its like i am training them up. (oh, also visas never has her own lightsaber for me cos i always fight her straight after leaving telos so her lightsaber breaks and i just get a part i need for mine - pretty handy though cos it means you an get your lightsaber less than halfway through dantooine if you do it first)

Well, it does not sound picky. It sounds like you have a good mission ahead of you. Never thought of sticking with 1 person through the whole game. Intresting.

Let me know how your date with the handmaiden goes. Think I'll try for Mira myself :)

just got onderon and korriban to do now and its working out great. i kept handmaiden at level 12 until i could make her a dark jedi so now she is 8 levels guardian too, and i am a couple of levels ahead as a sith marauder - first time i've played any kotor game as a melee type character rather than force powers character and its really fun. as long as i remember to keep her out of the way if i do something i know she will object too, which isn't often at all, i am managing to keep high influence so she is very dark side. i've also had kreia tagging along all the time as thought it would be fun, not only for the extra xp but also its like kreia is my mentor then handmaiden is my apprentice who basically worships the ground i walk on. really enjoying only making one jedi and using the same characters most of the time. although atton got a little annoyed when i refused to train him lol. definately recommend it though. even thinking of scrapping the other game i am playing as well (my first ls game as i have only completed it ds) and do a similar thing but ls and without kreia tagging along, but maybe have t3 with me as much as possible instead and possibly disciple as my padawan seeing as it would kind of make sense using him.

Obvious statement: if you're intending to stick to one apprentice, it shouldn't be Atton unless you do Dxun/Onderan first (and not even then if you are careful to pick up all XP!) as he isn't allowed to do those planets...

Meh.

For a darkside apprentice huh.. well you can kick out Mira, you have to be lightside to get her, unless you are lightside, then go darkside, but that takes to long..>.<

Im thinking of a team.. like.. The Handmaiden, and Possibly the Visas, even though they hate eachother.. but meh..
People always say to play nice, but some of us don't like to.. do we get the corner?

Unlike most people, I like to have Visas as my primary apprentice, namely because I can somehow train her better than everyone else (seriously, though, you should have seen her last file :she could beat any party member but me), and because I always thought that the fact that she could see with no eyes was wicked sick (she's sorta like Paul Atreides). Finally, I thought (although i was kinda dissapointed) that there was plenty of cool potential in visas, although the only memorable moment during dialogue was when she said "This cantina is infested with life. A well placed grenade could cleanse some of the dirty and insignificant souls here" and one of your responses is "cleanse away, visas"
