Which characters can become Jedi?

Post by BallOfFire »

Which characters can become Jedi? This is my first time playing so I don't know how this works, but I've read that party members can become Jedi. Which ones can do this? I've been massing dexterity on all my party members, intending to give them Lightsaber Finesse at some point, but I've just completed Nar Shadaa and they are still the same old classes =(.

By the way... is the first game better or worse? I'm going to be separated from my XBox for a few months so I'm considering buying the first one for my laptop.

Thanks

you have to get influence with them and advance their stories enough (by talking to them) and then you eventually get the option to train them. if you are male then you can make handmaiden into a jedi, and if female, then you can make disciple a jedi. also, you can make atton a jedi, bao-dur a jedi and if you have mira in your party instead of the wookie you can make her a jedi. the wookie cannot be made a jedi. there is a good influence guide that i downloaded (i think i got it off a link on these forums). if you go to gamefaqs.com and go to the relevant page for kotor2 then it is there to download as a text file.

the first game is a great game. i'd definately recommend it. in a lot of ways i think its far better than the second, although there are parts of the second, like influence and extra powers/feats and no level cap that i really like. i love both games, but have to say i think the first is a must for anyone.

Links to finding more on making certain members Jedi can be found through using the search function. If you have any questions, feel free to post them. There are a lot of threads to read through. :)

I would recommend entering such search queries as 'Mira Jedi' for the best results. Also, if you want to learn more on how to get influence to make them jedi, use the search function to find threads on the 'KotOR II Influence Guide'.

Most characters have the potential of becoming besides the droids, Mandalore and Hanharr, but it takes alot of work. Basicly if you want to train someone to become a Jedi you must get enough Influence to learn more about them and proceed through their story (history). Once they reach the end of their story you will get the chance to ask them if they would like to become Jedi and then you take it from there.

Thanks guys. I'm playing a good character with an attitude, so I've kinda pissed off half my party members. Does that mean I'm screwed if I want them to be Jedi? Is it even worth the effort? I don't care about force powers, I just want some more lightsabers to be swung around and the satisfaction of being able to tell to my tv screen "BWAHAHAHAHA. YOU DARE CHALLENGE ME? I HAVE THREE JEDI NEWBS!" As you probably guessed by my psychotic outburst, I get a lot of darkside points ^^.

By the way, somehow I missed the search function till just now. There really should be a search function to help people locate the search function. Or maybe that's just me.

i think there is a way to get them to be jedi by getting enough negative influence with them, sure i read that somewhere on this site too, but never actually tried it that way. might have a go experimenting with that sometime when i play as ds again.

For some characters just influence isn't enough, bear in mind, there are specific quests to do as well.

With Atton, you have to have influence, but you need also to have spoken to some guys in the refugee sector on Naa Shaddaa, who tell you that Atton isn';t who he seems. Then you have to persue this with Atton.

With Handmaiden, you need to fight and beat her 3 times, then immediately after the third fight, without ending the dialogue, tell her to get dressed, and ask her about the robes she puts on. If you miss this step, you've had it :( (I missed it several times and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.).

Also bear in mind that you have to be level 15 at least to Jedify anyone.

Just search for 'Darkside Jedi Party Members' or the like and something should pop up to help you. A lot of the people here have been able to turn all the NPCs into Dark Jedi (and we got to see some cool tattoos on one of them too) and I believe it was Alcina who got some characters (if not all her Jedi) down to DS mastery as well.

So, if you have questions, feel free to ask them. :D

We'll ask Buck Satan about having a giant SEARCH link at the top of the page. ;)

Actually, Handmaiden was one of the first characters I turned into a Jedi and I didn't even know about her mother's robes until I had played through the whole game several times.

As far as turning your whole party into Jedi, all of them can, other than the droids, Mandalore, and Hannharr. But, its not always a good idea. You can turn Bao-Dur rather early on, although it is a bit tedious. However, Bao becomes a Jedi Guardian when you turn him, which means his skills and feat progression change to that of a Guardian as well. Thus you lose your best tech for another fighter. I'm not saying don't turn him, but wait until right before your return to Onderon to do it.
When all else fails, try brute force.

i found the best thing for bao-dur is to keep him as tech to around level 15 or 16 then turn him into a jedi. he is now at level 24 and he has over 20 (not including attribute bonuses to skills) in every skill other than stealth. and the jedi levels have turned him into a very effective hand-to-hand fighter with his special arm that does electric damage and a pair of good strength enhancing gloves. and as i use him as a combat jedi it doesn't matter if i put armour on him as i am not using him for any buffing powers.

Now I'm a weapon master, and halfway up the lightside part of the alignment meter. You guys mentioned that I can turn them into dark jedi by losing enough influence on them, but I'm not sure how that would work since I'm a good guy now. If I work on getting more influence from now on will I probably be able to make em into jedis? I've only done Nar Shadaa since I was able to pick which planet to go to.

you can still get quite a bit of influence for certain characters on dantooine and onderon so you should be ok. if you use an influence guide (many links to it in various threads on these forums, just search for influence and look through them, thats what i did) you will see where you can pick the influence up. as far as i know, you cannot get influence on koriban or in the final stages of the game.
