Technical Problem- **Spoiler-Secret Tomb

Post by Mara_Coral »

I think their is a glitch in the section of the game I am at as I cannot proceed further.

**Spoiler**

I am on Korriban in the Secret Tomb and have just entered. I start fighting Malak and the rest and eventually fall. The screen comes up that says I am weakened but still alive and then the Exit screen comes up as I fall to the ground dead, but instead of it being normal the whole room flips upside down.

I read somewhere that you aren't suppose to die in this section of the game and why does the screen flip?

Is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong??

Please help
Thanks

And not everybody here has english as a primary/first language.
So when people make spelling mistakes or typos (as opposed to the lazy-style AOL-shorthand/leetstyle typing), show some tolerance.

Anyways, I do not believe you can die from the fights, just from the beasts. If you have trouble with the Malak fight, just go after him. Never mind the others. Could be a bug... game seems to generate new ones on it's own.

Actually, if it says that you were weakened, that merely means you failed at performing one of the tests. If you lost to Revan, than your meter will fall down towards the dark side.

Flipping upside down it is not supposed to do, and is most likely a bug. By exit, you mean to restart the task from elsewhere? Then this is most likely a one time bug for you.

The Sith Tomb has a lot of bugs. Make sure you make many saves while in this location.

So basically its a bug in the game and in order for the game to continue normally I will have to defeat malak.
-- I am having difficulties with him. I seem to die everytime and then the glitch kicks in. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to beat him?

Thanks

Do not aim for the others, like Bastila. Aim only for Malak and Malak alone. Other than that, if you have force wave, it is useful to remove the pestilence of the other Jedi to make the challenge easier. They fade when Malak dies.

Force Storm is also useful if you're playing DS.

I have to admit, I have responded to a lot of threads on Korriban bugs, the Tomb in particular. This is a new one for me.

Use a melee shield. Because the conversation is long, you cannot do this before the fight starts. So when the fight starts & the game goes into it's combat pause, click a shield. Other then that, just wack Malak as Hill suggested.

I prefer to use brute strength over force powers. By this time in the game you should have a few good melee force powers. Here's another suggestion. If you took the fury skill, after hitting a shield use force speed. Then attack Malak with a few fury modes. With force speed you get an extra attack every turn. With fury (top) you get an extra few attacks. I ended up wacking him about 4-5 times per round, basically leveling him in the first 2 rounds.

Also supply your character with anything that adds to strength. My favorite is the Sith power gaunlets (+3), the skill toolbelt (+1), and whatever implant that adds to strength. The more strength, the harder you hit & more damage you inflict. (I'm at level 49 & wacking at +50 in my off hand)

Hope this helps

Can anyone confirm the consequences of losing the three 'fake' battles in the tomb. Do you always gain DS points, or is it points opposite to your own alignment? Can a Darksider get a treble helping of DS points by letting himslef be killed?

I really don't know, but I can guess. Some of the paths taken in the tomb are darkside, right? Do you join Malak? Do you make the people run through the mines for you? Do you kill Kreia?

All three will most likely be either easy battles or no battles at all, ending in DS points. The alignment goes down, as said in the journal and the walkthrough, and considering the location, the only way it could go up is perhaps performing the opposite of the darkside deeds.

Fighting and losing to the Wryworms (sp?) will get you killed and require you to reload, either way.

But what about the consequences of letting yourself be 'killed' in these battles. I've only ever lost them as a Lightsider (Force Lightning being so uselful and all, I've never lost as a Darksider). Certainly 'Death' as Lightsider gives you DS points, whereas choosing the LS path and winning gives you no alignment points.

Anyone know about Darksiders who lose; I can't find a suitable savegame ATM?

My guess is that they suffer little ill effects... bit I'm not sure, and all my savegames I currently have are on random planets for answering recent questions...

My guess is that if you take the DS routes, you will have little to worry about. Kreia will target the others and they will kill her. The mines will kill your men, whether there is any others to kill on the other side...

The first one, joining, seems that you have no fight at all.

As a dark sider, the Keria fight is a bug. You side with her & wack the party. You gain dark points, but must do the whole thing over until you decide to wack her.

Malak as a dark side (you join him) says your first lesson is about wounding the flesh (namely yours), so you fight him either way

Mines I always pick up, so don't know

Never played DS through there before... I can see I probably should.

Mines are more useful when you pick them up. Otherwise you just make the game more difficult for yourself. Not that that is bad, but it is kind of pointless.

Funny you mention that Hill.... I always try for the most demo points because the mines are in fact one of the most useful items in the game. 1: anyone can set them, 2: you can 'drop & run' during combat, letting the enemy walk on them.

Getting back to topic, isn't it odd that in the cave, the only thing you can take out from the fights is the mines? I would think they were part of your past. Kind of like grabbing something from a dream & waking up with it in your hand.
