Are yuo allowed to take that equipment home afterwards (except for the gun of course, that's only in Switzerland).
nope, nothing. Or that's what I know. Everything is property of army, and if you want something, you have to steal it.

They've changed the gun laws in the US now to accomodate collectors. You can own semi-automatic guns used in the military legally. However, owning live ammunition for them, or live grenades, shells, etc is illegal. An old friends father has a mortal shell and "pineapple grenade" from WW2, or (maybe WW1?) which he got from a family member. Neither are live, all the explosives inside were removed.

Nope, because everything is checked every day...
Of course, I can take those, we can have some personal property with us, but using those during service is denied.

HEY RAV!!!
Now we can have that party! :D :D :D :laugh:

Well the Swiss have always taken things such as self defence very seriously. And they don't want to leave too much to their government (hence the endless referendums and quite some autonomy for the different cantons). Hence their "militia" system in which you do military service and then take your gun home and have some training of two to three weeks each year again until you're 40 or 45 or so. Basically almost the whole male population is National Guard.

I know. I'm just surprised that no other countries take the same view. It doesn't seem so far off the wall, as a point of view, to me.
