Changing the duergar ECL?

Post by Endugu »

Title sums it up pretty much: Does anyone know of a mod that lowers the duergar' ECL to 1?

Id like to include one of those grey guys in a group for once, but the ECL has yet kept me from doing so.
Somehow, I cant see how their abilities (+4 to hide, immunity to paralysis and invisibility 1/day) are supposed to justify two additional character levels, especially in comparison to the other ECL +2 race, the drow.
Even Wizards of the Coast realised this and reduced the duergar ECL to +1, when they upgraded D&D from 3.0 to 3.5.

So...does anyone know how to change this? Maybe through a mod (I remember a mod that added some subraces, so it is possible to change them), or something similar...or maybe I have to mod the game myself and someone can point me to a appropriate site... :)

btw, are there any good IWD2-modding sites out there? I havent been able to find any besides those listed in the sticky thread on the top of this forum (weidu etc).

1) I don't know how to change it. There are a lot of things WotC realized were mistakes and changed in 3.5, but this game is 3.0 (I still want Bard to be the favored class of Gnomes). I suppose you could add some XP with Dalekeeper, but that really won't do the trick the proper way.

2) Sorcerers.net has some cool mods.

Thanks for the replies so far! :)

Yeah, thought about using DaleKeeper2, too and it seems to be my best option yet.
I just wish thered be a simple and more "lasting" method, than having to edit every single Duergar char. :)

Checked the sorcerer's place, too and some of those mods are neat, though most of them and dont really care for.
