It's a portal key that you need. What kind of wand keys do you have?

check out the walkthrough on this site; it has the locations listed. but there is one wand per statue in that area which you need, otherwise you'll get toasted.

You need the portal keys, dummy!! You will find them in Irenicus' "wife's" room in the southeast. (Outside).
I'll kick ass in BG2.

Yup, it's in the room that's, I believe, somewhere in the vicinity of the captive dryads.
Don't forget to check for traps, by the way.

Nope - there is 2 wand keys in the first level of the dungeon - one on the monster in the "sewer room" and another I can't remember just yet

Did you already fiddle with the stasis cells? You had to have retreived the batteries from a seperate room.

On my first run I overlooked it, as the door to the room is rather dark and hidden in a corner.

If you haven't found the batteries yet, go to the sewer-like room, near where the Golem is, who opened the doors for you. Between the Golem room and the sewage tunnels is a door. Like I said, I missed it on my first run through the game initially, and I had been stuck there for a while.
