Something about the ending...

Post by Mischief »

Hello everyone, well those whom still visit this forum. I managed to get my hands on a copy of Torment and enjoyed the playthrough. However, something has been nagging in my head.

*spoiler alert*

At the end of the game, I had both Annah and Fall From Grace, having explored their romances. When I rejoined with my mortality, each person got ressurected and each spoke one line at the end of their dialogue with Nameless. However, I didn't get any with Annah; instead, she held back what she wanted to say and the main character filled it in. Fall From Grace got a much longer dialogue than Annah, even though I focused more on developing Annah's romance. Have I done something wrong?

I did kiss Annah after Ravel's maze and I'm wondering whether there is more I could have done to get a better ending with her.

I think that's just part of Annah's character. She's had a very hard life, and she has difficulty expressing tenderness or affection for others (she's has a sharp tongue for insults, but isn't very expressive of emotions besides contempt or anger). She feels a great sense of loss when TNO is about to die, but she doesn't know how to say it. TNO tries to make it easier for her by saying that he knows how she feels even if she can't find words for it.

At least, that was my interpretation. I'm not digging around the the files with Infinity Explorer or anything: just going with my interpretation of the game.

Also, there basically is no FFG romance line. I tried kissing Ravel in FFG form in the maze, and afterwords, told FFG, "I kissed her because I wanted to kiss you," and her response was basically, "Good thing you kissed her, then: kissing me would have been lethal, me being a soul-sucking succubus and all."

I hear that they planned a deeper FFG romance, but I'm sorta glad that they didn't develop one, because I like the calm detachment of FFG's character as it is. With all of the other characters, you're supposed to be helping them: helping Morte overcome his guilt, help Dak'kon restore his faith, make Annah know that someone loves her, try to help Ignus overcome the cruelties you imposed on him, help Nordom understand his place in a world with free will and individual identity. All of this ignores the fact that TNO himself is one of the biggest basket-cases in the game, and he's probably not qualified to be a wise counselor to anyone, given how badly he's screwed up his own life. I like how FFG acts as a wise counselor and helping hand to you, but doesn't really need any help of her own.
