Has anyone!

Post by Ron »

Have any of you beaten the Crowed wizards spelling? early in the game. I haven't been playing long so I was walking into the dock and forgot to change Aerie's script so that priest come up to me asking me to convert, I tell him to go get bent. Aerie decided to open Armageddon on his ass, well those damn wizards come 2nd offence and proceed to throw me around. My guy was by no means weak. I Evan had some *cough*hacked*cough* items. I'm going legit now, few hours into the game your god like characters get boring. Actually I killed my self Image when they confused my PC aka Bad Mofo I was duel wielding the Ras+2 and the sword of baldrun (merchant zip thingy) I made short work of all my guys hehe. Who were all feared running around aimlessly anyway Image . Back to the subject, has anyone beaten them this early in the game.

I've beaten them a couple of times, but I was told you get the mother of all wizards coming after you if you start killing off the coweled wizard enforcers they send. Does anyone know if this is true? Me, I always end up paying the (ouch!) 5000gp so I don't have to watch my spell use in the town.

Woah, never thought about actually beating them.
I always just cursed and reloaded until eventually paying the 5000 gp so my butt-kicking of evil could continue unfettered.

I'll have to try that though, to see if it's true, about the "mother of all wizards", I hadn't heard that before.

Later though, since I'm in the middle of Icewind Dale right now.

I have beaten several of them (16 total :4 times a group of four) and didn't encounter any godlike "mother wizard" yet...
By the way, killing them is easy: they always appear around the offender,so if you want to fight them, have him/her separated from your party and cast an offensive spell. Cowled wizards appear, you cast invisibility or something, wizards cast protection spells, you run away til they are out of sight, you cast several fireballs, cloudkills, etc, they die,you loot (average loot and experience).
Note: fight in areas where no commoners/peasants can get hurt and have your other characters stationed elsewhere so that they don't get in your way!

Bummer! I was hoping to meet and destroy this "super" Cowled Wizard with my wizard-hating party. You are right about their strength. They are beatable. They can also be separated and taken on one-on-one. In one encounter, they used an area effect spell and happened to hit some guards. The guards attacked the wizards, who wouldn't defend themselves against the city guard. I sat back and watched from the shadows as the guards wore down their stoneskins and contingencies, and eventually killed the wizard enforcers. Heh, heh.
