Weird Screen Colour

Post by Hill-Shatar »

Lately it has become a pain. My screen has spent all of its time in my possession with a greenish tinge. Or other colours.

For example, in KotOR games, both of them, even with all the patches, red seems to be white. Rioght here on the sight, it looks duller and dimmer. The smilies all look green, and the red tounge of this smilie " :p " is black, or at least a very dark colour.

In other games, such as warcraft, the red base looks black, the yellow base is green, and to me it appears that colours choisen for units show up as a variety of hues of certain colours, and not others. I am sure that it is not gamma resolution, which I guess sounds pretty obvious.

My screen is from an older computer, while my new computer came without the screen. The salesman, who already proved his knowledge to me repeatedly, said that this would not make a difference. Is there a way to change it back to default colours, or colour scheme, or something along those lines. Even the desktop is the wrong colour!

My computer seems plauged with these problems lately. thank you all for your time in reading this.

Well - there are the hardware settings (normally) on any screen, which you can try to fiddle around with - color and contrast.
Otherwise, you can check the software/drivers for the monitor and drivers for the graphic card to see if anything seems out of the ordinary.

If you have the possibility then try a different monitor on the computer and see if the problem persists, if it does then it is a settings problem, if not - well, then it is the monitor singing its final tune, and it would perhaps be a time to think about a new monitor.

Normally when I get problems it is the monitor which is "dying" (I have a monitor where all red is blue for a while until it warms up :D , that is dying soon)

The computer seems to have had these problems since I switched computers... I have been fiddling around with those colour things for a while... and decided that perhaps it was time to get a new monitor. Or just highjack one from work... :p :D

Thanks for your time Xandax.

I think there are some settings that change the monitor so it does shift slightly towards red or blue. Something to do with screen temp. I think my other Iiyama monitor has those kind of settings.
But as Xandax says it's probably the monitor dying on you. :( :p
